My Hero Academia General Discussion Thread #18

Also means that muscular wasn't at full power when he lifted part of that building.
Yeah.

Guess we won’t see a direct comparison to his old 100% and his current power unless Muscular shakes off those after effects.

@Kingofwolves999 if you're interested there's a kind anon on 4chan translating the whole chapter in the current MHA thread.
You’re must be on actual drugs if you think I am ever going to 4Chan

Yeah, it seems like Muscular's muscle fibres have a limit yo how much energy they can store/take before tearing apart. We somewhat saw this when Deku began to overpower Muscular, the fibres were ripping apart, just before he used '1 Million' percent.

How many chapters until Deku's arms are brought up?

Do you guys think those are actually some type of full gauntlets, will we see Melissa?
We should wait for the fan translations. But in my opinion? Midoriya should probably scale somewhat to Muscular.
Do you think that 45% Deku could replicate what Muscular did (ripping that building up and lifting it)?

Spoilers are out. Deku stomped Muscular.

He manhandled him a bit with Blackwhip, but with no real damage. The chapter ends with Deku seemingly one-punching Muscular.

Deku also got the 6th's quirk which is Smokescreen. He also has a jetpack for some reason, probably to minimize OFA usage by letting the jetpack guide Float instead of Air Force, idk.

Either we get an answer how Deku used his full power with his arms destroyed in the War, or Horikoshi forgot.
Number 6 is Smoke? I KNEW IT!!!, and holy cow. I expected it to be a high-diff fight, not an outright stomp.

Well I’m just seeing tons of blurred spoiler texts so I can tell this chapter was good
Not gonna read them because this feels like a week that needs to be read blind

I might be able to calculate a few of the feats in this chapter once it comes out.
Like Muscular lifting that building.

I almost doubted myself, but it’s true. He now has a stealth/blinding quirk. There are so many possibilities open with that kind of ability for a hero that I’m kinda overloading right now.

He’s got:
Black Whip = Capturing
Float = Flying
Smokescreen = Stealthing
Danger Sense = Dodging
Stockpiled Power = Fighting. Those are his quirks and their applications for being a hero.

So now the 2nd and 3rd are probably going to have quirks that are something he’s lacking.
Tracking, healing and interrogation are all I can think of for what he’s lacking now

By the way...

How's the first panel super heros theory holding up. I mean with the introduction of Smokescreen.

They were consciousness and not literal souls, so both Shiggy and Deku gets Multiple Selves Type 1.
Sorry if I sound stupid, but what's the difference in this case? The others vestiges stated that the vestige All Might was actively giving them information that the alive All Might only recently learnt. That means it's connected to him. This sounds like a soul to me.

Oh yeah, do you guys have any guesses for the quirks of the 2nd and 3rd users? Do you think they'll be emitter based quirks or possibly transformation types?

By the way...

Surprisingly, holding up alright, but shaky. Here’s the breakdown I’ve got so far:

Superman: Flight and Stats
Spider-Man: Black Whip and Danger Sense
Wolverine: Berserker Rage (not a quirk but an important part of Deku and even All Might’s abilities; will replace if he gets healing in some way)
Moonlight Mask: First TV Superhero in Japan, was their version of Batman, hence SmokeScreen

So all that’s left is Kamen Rider, Ultraman and Devilman, though Kamen Rider is referenced a lot just from the fighting style and costume aspect of Deku.

So the theory falls apart or stays in tact depending on the 2nd and 3rds quirks, as it always has, but it’s good so far.

Now that I’m understanding from the summaries a bit more, it actually seems like he was handling Muscular BEFORE he was weakened by Shindo’s quirk. So he might still have Class G LS since Muscular wasn’t weakened when he restrained him with Black Whip and threw him around.

The way Deku reacts here definitely implies that Muscular's muscles had some adverse reactions already.

When he jumps here:

Deku says "He didn't jump hard enough...?"
Edit:
later in the chapter, when his muscles start to tear away, Deku puts two and two together saying that Muscular couldn't jump high enough because the sensation of muscle layers were thrown off.

Ah, weakened from the get go then. Guess we can’t do any scaling then unless he shakes it off next chapter and wasn’t just KO’d. Though Deku analyzing the situation and even Muscular’s capabilities like that is impressive.

Deku has always been a good analyst, so I like Horikoshi's consistency.

I'm still of the opinion that Muscular wasn't KO'd, especially considering that it's a body shot.

Also, despite Muscular having a type of low level 'regeneration' in a sense, his quirk, and therefore muscles still experience fatigue and whatnot. He can't just avoid these affects by sucking his muscles up and then creating more.

ya whle tommy has regen, power steal, insta decay, superpowered body and sensing
To be fair, if Deku had what Shigaraki had, he would stomp him out. Him using weaker quirks that have been amplified vs Shigaraki using quirks straight up stolen from people is quite a great thematic set up for Hero vs Villain.

Also these weak quirks are kinda not weak except maybe Float which is pure support for True Flight. We haven’t seen much of Smokescreen, especially in a setting like stealth or against multiple people, so I wouldn’t call it weak yet. And if there’s one thing Deku does, it’s make quirks that seem weak stand out and work in any situation.

Should it be noted on Deku’s profile that the vestiges have increased in potency? Like an “enhanced” for his “Multiple Selves” and “Resistance to Mind Manipulation” because the vestiges are now fully formed and capable of actual thought and input in battles? I feel that’s a very important fact that should be added to his profile.

I feel like the 2nd and 3rd will actually have hype quirks. Like at least equivalent to Blackwhip or above that.

There's a reason why Horikoshi kept them hidden from the readers and Deku himself when they said the remaining ones after Blackwhip were basic weak quirks.

2nd and 3rd are going to have quirks that might actually be considered “strong” by anyone seeing them.

My hope is a long range emitter quirk that is purely for damage, like an energy beam or a type of element. I feel that’s something he’s missing since Air Force is getting outclassed and is better suited for helping him fly.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if they can take over Deku's body like AFO can with Shigaraki. I know they'd probably never do it, but it feels like if Deku's 'consciousness' got KO'd, one of them could fight using his body.

Yeah it could be in a post war key.

Hope Muscular isn't down for the count. Although he suffered a "crushing defeat", he wasn't shown knocked out.

The bandages are looking more and more like the full gauntlet. Their have angular ridges too.

I don't know how this scales Shindo since he did actually damage Muscular and is a huge reason why Deku is having an easier time against Muscular.

I'm really hoping either #1 or #2 is a Mutant or Transformation quirk. The series has an over-abudance of emitter quirks that cause no physical changes to the person. I want Deku to at least get a transformation.

100% Full Cowl was a good transformation especially in Heroes Rising (Super Saiyan) but I wouldn't mind if he got something else (Devil Man complete with horns, red & black skin, red lightning. Lol I'm fantasizing).

I maintain my opinion that adding the green lightning stuff with Deku was a mistake. Yeah it made visuals look really cool but it could've been an entirely different quirk. The fact that it's only for the audience and apparently nobody actually sees it in-universe and the lightning is just for aesthetics makes it even worse, as its sole existence is just to make Izuku look cool using what is an otherwise a bland super-strength ability.

So i just found a big three shonen jump discussion, and then i saw a pretty interesting point about MHA:

My Hero Academia: It jumped the shark. Almost no one was a fan of the reveal about Deku's power and the more series started to lean on side characters the more I miss my favourites in 1-A. Also Horikoshi has made it clear to me that he has no interest in giving any of the female characters any spotlight that isn't about how much they want to smooch Deku (except for Miruko - Miruko's parts f***ing killed it). The current status-quo change might open the doors for something really interesting but after reading Worm and Invincible and ten other lame, """deconstructionist""" superhero stories I don't have much hope for grim and gritty takes on the genre.

What i really curious was about Hirokoshi has no interest giving the females chars a spotlight, where he's stated that?
