Because, Monarch has inhabited the Temple of the Moth, or whatever it's called, for like a decade, and they've seemingly taken no precautions against this arachnid, so this may imply it is not a meat-eater/carnivore and so is not considered a threat.

IT was confirmed by movie director Mike Dougherty that the spider was gonna eat one of Monarch soldiers. Duh
