Monster Hunter General Discussion Thread.

I feel like Shagaru should just be on par with other Elder Dragons, I dunno why we didn't do that at first but I probably argued for it badly
Now as for whether Narwa the Allmother scales to 2x Base Elder Dragon level due to having the power of Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa? I dunno.
Probably? I don't think our Multipliers page actually gives an opinion on fusions like that but it's pretty low end and seems legit, since you don't fight Allmother until awhile after Ibushi

I probably argued against it due to quest progression or reward tiering in MH4U or MHGU or some such, but at this point I agree that Shagaru Magala should just scale to other base Elder Dragons.

Anyone been working on a update for the Elder Dragons that have a Risen version? If not, made a sandbox with all them updated and wanted to ask how they look.

Also wanted to ask on where Valstrax is officially regarded as the fastest monster as I couldn't find where it was stated to be such, so I avoided putting MFTL+ rating in the sandbox.
I was intending to make a CRT to add the True Frenzy versions of Gore and Shagaru from Frontiers after my Kulu CRT was finished.

@Sigilavox Admittedly not sure on the capture thing as well, just thought to put it there to see how everyone felt on that since I don’t recall a statement specifically noting a standard monster becoming too powerful to capture.

At a glance the scaling chain seems fine to me atm, though I must ask if it’s using Master Rank Ibushi and Narwa or the ones we went against in the story of base Rise? Given the former are stated as far more powerful than the later and wanted to know if Amatsu should be noted to scale above those.
Also think it’s fine to say All-Mother as roughly 2x stronger normal Narwa given it’s also noted to be twice as deadly from absorbing Ibushi power and abilities iirc

I feel like the capture thing should just be limited resistance to Sealing or something.
I've agonized over this on and off for years, on one hand stuff like Vine Traps in World fail to work, but then you have One-Shot binders (which, are functionally the same anyhow) being totally fair game

I feel like I remember just resolving at "it's game mechanics" but I don't even remember why

We can definitely use all this to spruce up Great Girros a bit. I didn't realize that those were even gills until I read this. 😭

I'm a little worried, a few technical issues in the beta (not even the graphics meltdown a lot of people, like my mom, experiences) threw the feel off a lot for me, and I don't really jive with the quest system as it's been made, and the Longsword's alterations both enrage me at the fact it's becoming even more powerful, and also weird me out with how much directional inputs influence how your moves come out, along with the totally new moveset for red gauge

But I am definitely willing to give it a shot, I do really like how Lance played when I eventually decided to swap straight to it

The official Twitter for MH apparently has an outright statement that Fulgur Anjanath can amp its body with its electricity. I suppose that's supposed to be the explanation for why Fulgur suddenly introduced a shit ton of new Turf Wars against Apex Tier Monsters when regular Anjanath gets bullied by Rathalos.

Ahhh okay. Do we have any idea how much of stronger a New World Ratha would be though?
No, just that is. The only reliable metric I can think of is measuring the difference in how quickly it can push itself into the air compared to the Old World Rathalos considering that's the measurement the guidebook mentions.

I need to add the Hellfire State to the Gold and Silver Raths while making it a new key or something since the Old World Metal Raths don't have it.

Naturally, this proceeds to be contradicted by Rise being set in the Old World and still having the Hellfire state

You gotta love immediate retcons. Although I guess technically it wouldn't be impossible for it to be a migratory pair since we see other New World Exclusive Monsters in Rise all of a sudden too, like Anjanath and Tobi-Kadachi.

Could argue that Old world metal raths just took longer to evolve to that state.

Has anyone ever tried calculating Diablos making this hole, both the in-gameplay version and the cutscene version where he one-shots that Barroth?

Do you guys think that Dodogama's barrage of explosive boulders and Lavasioth's feats of both bursting through volcanic rock and shooting out that one really big blast of lava could be worth calculating?
