Meltan's tier

573
28
Meltan is currently ranked as 6-B for scaling to other mythicals, which I strongly disagree with, which is what this thread is about. There's no evidence for Meltan scaling to other mythicals, and there's evidence suggesting otherwise. For one, Meltan only has a base stat total of 300. While I'm aware that base stats aren't considered when scaling legendaries, I think Meltan's stats are worth looking at. Meltan has the lowest base stat total by far out of all mythical Pokémon, and the second lowest of the legendaries and mythicals, only beat by Cosmog. Meltan's base stat total is lower than the starter Pokémon's, and is comparable to most baby Pokémon. Professor Willow encourages new trainers to try to catch Meltan, implying that it isn't considered dangerous or powerful. In the anime, several Meltan are scared of Lusamine's Clefable and Kiawe's Marowak, and Ash's Meltan is captured by Team Rocket, and is later overpowered by Mimikyu until Ash arrives. Later, Meltan is overpowered and almost defeated by Ryuki's Druddigon, and would've lost had Rowlet not saved it. Bewear takes a combined attack from several Meltan all at once and takes no damage from it, then scares the Meltan off. Ash's Meltan isn't powerful compared to his other Pokémon in Alola like Rowlett, let alone stronger than Pokémon like his Greninja. Meltan isn't powerful in the TCG either, being ranked as a common Pokémon. Meltan is most similar to Cosmog, the only other legendary that evolves. Cosmog and Cosmoem don't scale to other legendaries, because there are potrayed as weak. I don't see why Meltan should be any different. As for Melmetal, I think he should scale to Mythicals. He is considered powerful, and doesn't have evidence countering his tier as 6-B.

tldr: Meltan shouldn't be 6-B, as he doesn't scale to mythicals, but Melmetal does.

Yeah, I agree, Meltan and probably Melmetal are considered mythical pokémon only for their peculiar way of obtaining in the games.

I'm really sorry for the necro, but it seems several staff members agree. Is it alright to impliment these changes?

That wasn't a Necro, a thread's last post must be from a month/30bdays ago, and the last post before yours wasn't that long ago

I'd suggest 8-C, as it's shown as performing notably worse than starter Pokemon, and more comparable to baby Pokemon.
