Gorloanna isn't the god of traces for one, he never said that no trace can be bigger than that he says the land of traces currently holds 700 million years of history and can hold a hundred times more with ease.
This is referring to Anos statement of leaving traces larger than what the land contain and Gorloanna is telling him there's nothing in the mortal world's past that can be bigger than 70 billion years of history meaning there's no way to fill the land of traces not to talk of even leaving traces larger than what it can carry.

Simplified...LoT holds 700 million years of mortal world history, can hold 70 billion easily. Anos trying to carve history larger than it's capacity destroys 700 million year past, a new past which holds the destroyed 700 million year past emerges. Anos proceeds to destroy that too as well as exceed the capacity of the land of traces and as well destroy the land of traces.
