Space.

A dark empty void of nothingness, a vast vast universe spread unto infinity and possibly even beyond that. Filled with stars that shine as bright as the heart. Many planets have been formed within this universe, however only one has been inhabitable that is known to the human eye. The planet is called 'Earth'.

Filled with luscious green life and blue oceans teeming with activity. A race known as humanity has been learning and growing ever since they were first conceived as a concept. After billions and billions of years, through hard work, sweat, blood, and tears. They have achieved where they are now, nuclear explosives, suits used for battle, and many other assortments for convenience and research purposes. Even then, these humans remain unsatisifed, always wanting to learn more and more about the cosmos, however their activities were cut short.

On a normal day within the planet, the world's leaders received news of a massive asteroid that would completely obliterate the planet. The threat was imminent and they did not have much time to prepare, however the humans wanted to keep their progress moving forwards. They decided the best solution was to send their best team of three men and two women into deep space, packing as much fuel, food, and water as they can so they can learn more about space and continue the human race forwards.

After a tearful goodbye from their friends and family, the five survivors went off, just barely escaping the asteroid that crashed into the planet. The five went on through into the unknowns of the universe, from where they shall go? That is up to their decisions.

You are one of these five remaining survivors, drifting throughout the endlessness of space, hoping for a place to call home... or even a place to restore the planet where you once lived. It has been 8 months since you have departed Earth, still not much you haven't seen before. Space rocks, cosmic dust, and the sound of nothingness. You'll have to find something. Everyone is counting on you after all.

After a while of just sitting there, you decide to think about your life back home. What was it like before the planet went into annihilation... what was life like before... all of this?

I'm at least 20% sure this has been done before but whatever, welcome to my Quest! What a quest is, it's basically a choose your own adventure book. All of you will decide what to do and vote on which option you choose, the option with the most votes will be the option that your character will do. Choose between options by saying which one you're going for, or you can write your own option if you decide. However I can overrule your write your own option if it sounds really dumb. Sounds simple enough, I don't think there are any more rules, so let's start working on the character sheet shall we?

You reminisce on your life... before the destruction of Earth, think of all the good memories you've had back then...

Your name is...

  1. Write your own option
You had a great family and nice friends, they treated you well. It was truly a shame that you'll never be able to see them again, they didn't deserve to die like that, but... moving on.

You were an astronaut working at Galaxian Space Centre, you liked your job and were quite good at it as well. You've been to the moon a few times and have flown around the orbit of the Earth more than you can count... you look upon an old picture of yourself before the crash and you see yourself as...

As one of your last memorials of the station, they gave you a special ring, which can be used as a weapon. Can't be too safe after all, you'd need self-defense for everything. This interesting gadget they gave you is...

  1. A laser based sword
  2. A plasmablaster
  3. A short-ranged teleporter (teleports to whereever your line of sight is)
  4. A drone that you can ride on
  5. Write your own option
Good times... but now... you're still stranded in space, hoping for somewhere inhabitable to come, for now it's just you and your four teammates. Good luck out there.

tfw no Blaze Rockman today

rest in peace, my throbbing heart

How do we actually choose between these names

Everyone wants something different so I don't know how we'd actually make this work

Eh, I'll change my vote to a different name. But Names are typically associated with specific starter builds, someone says cool i like that name, and then theyll just copy and paste it whole.

I still think we should be Blaze RockMan the light saber wielder.

You are a caucasian male with red hair and green eyes, named Alexander Kirian. For your gadget of choice you have picked the teleporter, a nifty little device that allows you to teleport anywhere in your line of sight. It's incredibly useful for attempting to cross over gaps that you wouldn't be able to pass over. You're on this ship with four other people, Jeffrey, Anne, Mark, and Lyra. You're gonna be with them for who knows how long, so you guys have already built some rapport in the time you guys were together in this ship. You have already self-assigned yourself as the leader of this group during the time, so they're counting on you for big decisions.

Suddenly, you get called out of your memory session by Jeffrey, telling you that they found something on the ship's radar. You walk out and see a red message on the panel saying "SOLAR SYSTEM DETECTED!" That is probably some of the better news you've heard in a while. The ship zooms into the direction where the solar system is and you come across five planets orbiting a sun. Using the ship's scanner it's capable of discerning some information on these planets. You have the choice here.

  • Make a base on one of these planets
    • Planet A, a planet that has forms of plantlife and the scanner is also detecting some form of animal-life as well. However it has constant earthquakes that you'd have to deal with varying in potency.
    • Planet B, a planet that is filled with minerals and resources that could upgrade your ship and technology, but is plagued by an immense storm.
    • Planet C, a barren planet filled with sand, nothing too special but nothing to disturb you either.
    • Planet D, a planet with rich animal life, however most of the animals are hostile and aren't willing to share much space.
    • Planet E, a planet filled with water, however there isn't too much land, as 0.001% of the planet is land in total.
  • Ignore this and continue searching
  • Temporary stop at one of these to gather materials (and if so, which one?) and leave
  • Make your own optio

How much firepower do we have

Planet D could be really good if we can kill stuff

We definitely should go to B for materials

Your ship doesn't have any shooting power on it's own, but at least one of your guys has a plasmablaster.

  • Temporary stop at one of these to gather materials (and if so, which one?) and leave
  • Planet B

Agreed. The storm will act as a natural shroud against enemies, and we'll have plenty of time to beef up.

You guys have lasted 8 months so I'd say you're at about 30-40% of your stock left.

  • Temporary stop at one of these to gather materials (and if so, which one?) and leave
  • Planet A
The reasons for this are:

Planet C is worthless

We are rather low on food, so we need to hunt dem animals, but D is too dangerous for what it's worth

Earthquakes are far more menegeable than a storm without infrostructure, as there's isn't really the risk of stuff falling on our heads, while a storm would massivelly inder any outside travel and would also cause labding in the first place to be VERY difficult. so A is better than B IMO

We don't really have any information on planet E, so it's a big gamble, also we likely don't have equipment for underwater travel.

A won't have minerals, and we can simply land where the storm isn't to avoid it

If we want more stuff for weapons and fuel, we're going to need them

Storm isn't planet wide but it moves fairly quickly and is relatively large in that it's visible from space, and it'll take at least a few days to gather enough minerals.
