The abilities and stats to Pain and Sasori are very different. You can´t say that if Jiraiya can fight with Pain he automatic win other characters

Let me explain then:

1.Jiraiya is probably smarter (at least in combat)

2.Also probably stronger since there is no explanation on Sasori's profile for his stats, and Sasori was beaten by Sakura...SAKURA

3.If things go bad for Jiraiya he can just summon the 2 toads, enter Sage Mode and completely destroy Sasori

To be completely honest, Sakura was aided by Chiyo a lot. She'd never stand a chance. She wouldn't even get past the Hiruko puppet.

But other than that yeah, Sasori doesn't stand a chance unless he miraculously manages to stab Jiraya and inject the poison. But that is unlikely since Jiraya is faster than him. He could also just stand back and let the toads handle it.

A lot of people downplay Sasori because he lost to an old lady and a girl. Thing is, Chiyo and Saskura were literally the worst team Sasori could go up against. Chiyo stated that she was the better puppet master and Sakura not only possessed the necessary abilities to get through Sasori's puppet Hiruko and defend against the iron sand, but she actually discovered a cure to his own poison. Also, let's not ignore the fact that he ultimately allowed himself to be killed as pointed out by Chiyo.

For Jiraiya to pull off a victory, he would need to find a way to survive all of Sasori's initial attacks and get close enough to destroy his puppet and that's just the first round. Without Sakura's cure, if Jiriaya is hit even once, he's done for.
