He only used it because he believed Baba wanted him to. He lead the fight with close-quarters combat.
I pretty sure Jonathan can ignore durability with his Hamon, so yeah he can One-shot.
Hamon on its own doesn't necessarily oneshot but it's sheer versatility will definitely amplify his already nice advantages in strength and skill.
It's probably out of character but him pulling a Chiaotzu and just flying out of Jonathan's range and spamming ki attacks would probably be one
He can fly and play the long game with ki blasts.
He's a good bit weaker then Jonathan and Jonathan can prob just avoid the ki blasts and close the gap by extending his limbs so it's not really a valid wincon for Spike.
Ki attacks outrange Zoom Punch hard, so him being weaker doesn't matter that much for that tactic since Jonathan has literally no means of hitting him with it.
So what stops him from just Ki spamming and outranging Jonathan when Devilmite Beam fails?
The fact that he's overconfident, prefers to use martial arts, and would get decimated in close quarters combat before he gets the chance lol
That and JoJo characters having ridiculous stamina in general.
