Like Cloud Strife and Squall Leonhart before him, it's about high time that Bartz Klauser and the Final Fantasy cast got their dues. I won't bother trying to upgrade their tiers (yet. It's coming.), but I WILL be giving them a hefty amount of abilities. I'd like to separate keys, but his tier needs to be upgraded first.

Innate Abilities
This is innate abilities for Bartz. Fair enough, right?

Superhuman Physical Characteristics: Self-explanatory. Dude's at least 5-A.

Weapons Mastery + Martial Arts: Again, self-explanatory. He was trained by a warrior of dawn and can use basically any weapon type even as a freelancer.

Regenerationn (Mid-Low): Same reason Link has it. Can regenerate from sword slashes and otherwise fatal wounds.

Accelerated Development: Once more should be self-explanatory. Bartz constantly gets new abilities and classes and can still master them in a very short time. Hell, in Dissidia, he can even master his abilities mid-battle.

Enhanced Senses (Or Resistance to Afterimage creation): Kelger's fight with him involved Kelger forming a bunch of afterimages (At 1:01). Bartz was able to beat him by accurately pinpointing the real Kelger among all the copies. It's shown as Bartz closing his eyes and sensing. Which... accidentally) ended up killing Kelger, IIRC... oops.

Stealth Mastery: Bartz eavesdrops on people several times throughout the game, and sneaks past some of Exdeath's guards.

Empowerment: A more recent ability, but the crystals enhance his power and are responsible for his equipment/job abilities, so...

Non-Physical Interaction: Bartz can literally fight souls and beings made of pure fire. 'Nuff said. Might also be Soul Manipulation, but I'm not sure if straight-up fighting souls technically counts. Also, Galuf slapped the soul back into him, so maybe.

Resistance to Soul Manipulation: This one's a bit wonky. Early on in the game, Siren was able to take his soul using an image of his mom. Galuf slaps him back to his senses, and she can't take his soul again, and is forced to fight them directly. Might be an illusion thing, but IDK.

Resistance to Void Manipulation: Fought Neo Exdeath and Enuo, and survived being in the void for an extended period of time. Should be simple enough.

Resistance to Time Manipulation and Spatial Manipulation: Entering the sealed temple causes Space and Time to be twisted around the four warriors, but they end up completely okay afterwards.

Resistance to Absolute Zero: Shiva has this now, I think? And Bartz can survive her ice.

Standard Equipment
Bartz has a lotta weapons. Let's talk about them.

Sealed Weapons: The 12 known weapons that Bartz canonically possesses. These 12 weapons were used thousands of years ago to seal the wizard Enuo into the void, and are the only things canonically capable of defeating Exdeath when he was wielding the power of the void. Discounting the items added in subsequent releases of the game, they are the most powerful weapons that Bartz can wield.

  • Excalibur: The Sealed Sword, a holy-elemental blade which increases Bartz's strength when wielded.
  • Masamune: The Sealed Katana, which causes Bartz to always get the first attack in battle. It has an increased chance to inflict critical hits, and casts Haste when used as an item.
  • Rune Axe: The Sealed Axe, which raises Bartz's magic when wielded and can draw upon Bartz' MP to deal an automatic critical hit.
  • Apollo's Harp: The Sealed Harp, which ignores the defenses of enemies and instead targets their magic defenses. It deals eight times the normal damage to undead and draconic beings.
  • Yoichi's Bow: The Sealed Bow, which raises Bartz's strength and speed when wielded. It has an increased chance to inflict critical hits.
  • Assassin's Dagger: The Sealed Dagger, which increases Bartz's speed when wielded and has a 25% chance to instantly kill the target when it strikes.
  • Sasuke's Katana: The Sealed Short Sword, which increases Bartz's speed when wielded and has a 25% chance to automatically nullify physical attacks.
  • Fire Lash: The Sealed Whip, a fire-elemental weapon which increases Bartz's strength and speed when wielded and has a 33% chance to cast Firaga every time it attacks.
  • Gaia's Bell: The Sealed Bell, an earth-elemental weapon which increases the power of earth-elemental attacks and has a 25% chance to cast Quake every time it attacks.
  • Holy Lance: The Sealed Lance, a holy-elemental weapon which increases Bartz's strength when wielded.
  • Sage's Staff: The Sealed Staff, which increases the power of holy-elemental attacks, casts Raise when used as an item, and deals double damage to the undead.
  • Magus Rod: The Sealed Rod, which is Fire, Ice, and Thunder-elemental. It increases the power of all elemental spells, except for holy-elemental ones.
Equipment: Bartz possesses a wide variety of equipment including weapons, armor, accessories, throwing items, and consumable items that can be converted into various alchemical potions. As a freelancer and mimic, Bartz is capable of using all of these items.

  • Brave Blade: A powerful sword that is his main weapon in the Dissidia Final Fantasy games. It boasts more damage than almost any other weapon, but its strength will permanently decrease by a small amount every time he runs from a fight.
  • Fuma Shuriken: A large shuriken made for ninja, that can be used with the throw command. It inflicts more damage than his melee attacks tend to.
  • Scrolls: Three different types of scrolls that can be used with the throw command. They summon elemental storms that inflict fire, thunder, and water damage respectively.
  • Ultima Weapon: A powerful sword guarded by Neo Shinryu, said to hold the power of destruction. Though it boasts no special properties, it is by far Bartz's strongest weapon in terms of sheer damage.
  • Genji Armor: The most powerful armor that Bartz can collect, made up of: The Genji Helmet, which protects the user from mini and confusion, the Genji Armor, which protects against toad and confusion, the Genji Shield, which protects against paralysis, and the Genji Gloves, which protect against paralysis and toad.
  • Force Shield: A heavy cross-shaped shield that forms a forcefield of energy in front of it. It is Bartz's strongest shield by far and provides complete immunity to all the elements, including Fire, Ice, Water, Lightning, Earth, Wind, Holy, and Poison.
  • Ribbon: A simple ribbon, that protects the user against all status effects, including Old, Death, Petrification, Toad, Berserk, Silence, Poison, and Blindness.
Equipment Abilities
Abilities from the equipment above.

Sealing: The 12 sealed weapons sealed Enuo however long ago it was. Self-Explanatory.

Holy Manipulation: Excalibur and the Holy Lance are both holy-elemental.

Sound Manipulation: Gaia's Bell and Apollo's Harp both weaponize sound to inflict damage.

Death Manipulation: Every hit from the assassin's dagger has a 25% chance of instantly killing the target, and its flavor text states that it sometimes instantly ills enemies.

Extra damage against the Undead: Apollo's Harp and Sage's Staff.

Paralysis Inducement: The Fire Lash sometimes paralyzes enemies.

Fire Manipulation: Fire Lash... it's a fire whip. Come on. Also Fire Scrolls.

Electricity Manipulation: Thunder Scroll.

Water Manipulation: Water Scroll.

Earth Manipulation: Gaia's Bell causes earthquakes with its sound.

Resurrection: Sage's Staff casts Raise when used as an item.

Instinctive Reaction: Sasuke's Katana automatically blocks physical attacks.

Resistance to Elemental Manipulation (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Earth, Water, Wind, Holy, Poison): The Force Shield nullifies elemental attacks, even from enemies leagues stronger than Bartz, causing him to take Zero damage.

Resistance to Mind Manipulation, Transmutation, Size Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement: The Genji Equipment renders Bartz immune to Confusion, Toad, Mini, and Paralysis.

Resistance to All Status Effects with the Ribbon. Pretty self explanatory. it protects him from Age Manipulation, Death Manipulation, Poison Manipulation, Darkness Manipulation, Power Nullification (Silence), and Rage Inducement (Berserk), as well as the things that the Genji Armor protects him from.

Job Skill Abilities
And here's the BIG ones. There's a lot to cover here, so get ready.

Instinctive Reaction: Cover, Counter, and Shihradori all automatically react to things. Cover protects allies, Counter counterattacks, and Shihradori stops attacks (which is already counted on his page, so)

Accelerated Development: ABP up and EXP up both increase the rate at which crystal users master jobs and gains levels.

Attack Negation: A knight can completely nullify a physical attack, even from people with strength greater than his, using Guard.

Enhanced Senses: Vigilance stops ambushes, and Find Passages let the user see secret passages.

Statistics Amplification: Sprint and Focus can double the users' speed and strength respectively.

Healing: Chakra can heal the user and remove poison and darkness.

Information Analysis: Scan and Check analyze an enemy for their HP, Level, and Weaknesses, as well as their current conditions.

Reactive Evolution: Learning (blue magic) allows the user to learn abilities by being hit with them. This extends to non-damage spells like healing.

Magic: Uhh... has a fuckton of types of magic.

Summoning: Call can summon a random monster at no MP cost.

Rage Form: Berserk.

Forcefield Creation: Magic Shell automatically casts Shell when the user's HP is low.

Animal Manipulation: The Ranger's "Animals" ability summons animals to attack, and calm lets the user stop a monster from attacking.

Sealing: Can seal enemies within gourds using Capture.

Mind Manipulation/Possession: Control takes over an enemy, letting the user control their actions.

Smoke Manipulation: Smoke Bomb. Duh.

Afterimage Creation: Image forms a pair of afterimages to absorb attacks.

Sound Manipulation: Via sing. obviously.

Absorption: Lance absorbs HP and MP from the enemy with a phantom spear.

Empathic Manipulation: Flirt. Already on his profile.

Paralysis Inducement: Minenuchi inflicts Paralysis.

Durability Negation: Zeninage/Gil Toss inflicts damage that ignores defenses.

Death Manipulation: Iainuki inflicts instant death.

Resurrection: Revive can revive a fallen ally with no MP cost.

Power Mimicry: This is the big one. The mime's mimic ability lets the user copy any action that the user takes and take it for their own. This extends to even innate abilities like claws and fangs, weapon-based abilities, or pact-based abilities like Yuna's summoning, meaning that users should also gain limited Shapeshifting, Summoning (again lol), and Creation. Bartz has shown in dissidia that he retains the abilities he mimics, something which is counted on his profile, meaning that Bartz could POTENTIALLY have a far greater amount of abilities through mimicry that we don't see, but I can't in good faith put them on his profile. These, however, are abilities he possesses.

  • Creation: Can recreate his allies' weapons.
  • Gravity Manipulation: Cecil's Soul Eater.
  • Energy Manipulation: Laguna's Ragnarok Blade.
  • Light Manipualtio and Homing Attack: Warrior of Light's Luminous Shard.
Alchemy: Wasn't sure how to categorize this, but Bartz can mix items to produce new effects, which you can see here. The abilities this gives him (That aren't already listed above) are:

  • Attack Reflection: Some mixes give reflect.
  • Absorption: Of elements.
  • Flight: Some mixes give float.
  • Time Manipulation: Some mixes give haste.
  • Transmutation: Into a toad.
  • Statistics Reduction: Various mixes can lower the enemies' stats.
  • Status Effect Inducement: Various.
  • Durability Negation: Shadow Flare ignores defenses.
  • Elemental Manipulation: Various types.
Precognition: Pretty much every Oracle ability. Read Ahead is passive precognition that can get rid of enemy encounters, and Condemn and Predict forsee disasters.

Air Manipulation: Bartz's finisher is air elemental. Lenna, Krile, and Faris would get Water, Earth, and Fire manipulation from this respectively.

Status Effect Inducement: Same stuff as with Mix, but with Open Fire.

Immortality Negation (Type 7): The instant death of Open Fire ignores Undead's natural immunity to instant death.

Resistance to Absorption and Death Manipulation: The undead status the necromancer gets prevents life absorption and instant death attacks.

Necromancy: Oath calls upon the undead.

Magical Abilities
And now for magic.

Healing: Cure, Cura, Curaga, and White Wind.

Information Analysis: Libra does the same thing as Scan.

Status Effect Removal: Esuna and Poisona

Silence Inducement/Power Nullification: Mute inflicts silence.

Forcefield Creation: Protect and Shell, as well as Big Guard which combines them.

Attack Reflection: Reflect, as well as Big Guard.

Size Manipulation: Mini and Liliputian Lyric.

Resurrection: Raise and Arise.

Mind Manipulation: Confuse, Dark Haze, and Mind Blast all inflict confuse. Lots of these through songs and dances.

Afterimage Creation: Blink forms afterimages that absorb attacks.

Rage Inducement: Berserk is self-explanatory.

Power Nullification: Dispel removes buffs or positive status effects from enemies.

Holy Manipulation: Holy and Level 3 Holy.

Fire Manipulation: How many fire spells does this guy have? Firaga, Flame Thrower, Hellfire...

Ice Manipulation: Blizzard line of spells and more.

Electricity Manipulation: Thunder line of spells and more.

Sleep Manipulation: Sleep. Self-Explanatory. Time Slip does this too.

Poison Manipulation: Poison. See above.

Transmutation: Toad turns the enemy into a toad, as does Pond's Chorus.

Absorption: Drain and Osmose steal HP and MP respectively. Vampire steals HP as well.

Petrification: Break turns the enemy to stone.

Explosion Manipulation and Matter Manipulation: Flare triggers a fission reaction inside the target. I believe that's how we decided Flare Works nowadays. Level 3 Flare does this too.

Death Manipulation: Death makes you dead. Also Level 5 Death, Condemn, Roulette.

Durability Negation + Attack Reflection: ???? (yes, that's the spell name) inflicts fixed damage according to Bartz's wounds, dealing damage equal to the amount of damage Bartz has received. Kinda like that one guy from Bleach.

Water Manipulation: Via Aqua Breath.

Air Manipulation: Aero line of spells.

Flight (Levitation): Via Float.

Statistics Reduction: Off-Guard halves an enemy's defense, and Dark Spark halves their level, decreasing all their stats.

Paralysis Inducement: Death Claw paralyzes enemies and instantly reduces them to their last legs.

Self-Destruction: Self-Destruct.... duh.

Fusionism: Sacrifices the user's life to completely heal someone else's life and MP.

Light Manipulation: Flash is basically the DBZ Solar Flare.

Energy Depletion: Magic Hammer halves the enemy's MP. Not sure what else to qualify this as.

Age Manipulation: Old, Level 2 Old, and Time Slip all inflict this.

Time Manipulation: Time Magic is all about that life.

Spatial Manipulation: Time Magic is stated to manipulate space and time.

Statistics Amplification: Speed, Haste, and Quick, as well as a lot of songs.

Statistics Reduction: Slow.

Teleportation: Has this, via Exit.

Summoning: Lotsa summoning, mostly with Oath and, well... Summon. Can also summon meteors and comets.

BFR: Banish sends the enemy to the void.

Absolute Zero: Possesses the Shiva summon. This is actually the only summon ability that their magic doesn't already possess.

Sound Manipulation: You got any idea how many songs this class has?

Earth Manipulation: Rockslide from the Oracle's abilities.

Disease Manipulation: Oracle's pestilence does that.

Heat Manipulation: Meltdown is a wave of superheated air.

Curse Manipulation: Via Curse. I mean... yknow. Curse.

Energy Manipulation: Doomsday is a ******* orbital bombardment that bypasses magical defenses, Including reflect.

That's about all. If you want the full list (which repeats things, admittedly), it's:

Summary
That's about everything, honestly. Discuss.

I'll adress the innate and equipment section for now, given this is a very long read. So...

It's looking great so far, some stuff I think that could help:

-Enhanced Senses can also be written to include "Reflexes" as well, given Bartz not only perceived the trick you described but also dealt with it.

-I wouldn't say Stealth Mastery per se, given it's a rather basic use, but it's Stealth nontheless. Still, was there a Ninja class in FFV? I can't remember, because he can get the mastery from there as well.

-From my understanding, simply fighting Souls qualifies as just Non-Physical Interaction it doesn't quite reach the versatility of Soul Manipulation.

-I'd need to check the context myself, but it does sound the scene with Siren is a case of Soul Manipulation that Bartz got through with willpower.

-I don't know if it applies here as well, but the cast from FFIII have resistance to Existance Erasure from entering the World of Darkness and all. Given the similarities between Cloud of Darkness and Exdeath wouldn't the cast of FFV get resistance to EE as well?

-That's correct, Shiva's cold reaches Absolute Zero, if Bartz fought her and took on her Diamond Dust he can resist AZ.

-For all the boost his weapons give to him, you could list them as Statistics Amplification, though to be honest I don't know how that could be applied to a proper match. This applies to abilities that deal fixed or percentual damage as well, those are considered game mechanics that can't be reliably translated outside the gameplay system. On the flipside it applies to the debuff of the Brave Blade, as there is no way to know how many time Bartz has fled canonically nor how much the sword would weaken outside of in-game numbers.

-Dealing additional damage under specific circunstances such as the Rune Axe ability or the Sage Staff to undead could be classified under Damage Boost

-Blindness and Silence could also be placed under Sense Manipulation

Just a suggestion: why not use tabs to separate the Job Skills by job to avoid such a massive list in one go? I think it would be also a good idea to list the equipment Bartz has, at least the 12 Sealed Weapons and their properties.

IIRC, don't know if still applies, Exdeath has Non-Existant Physiology. Bartz being able to hurt him should be noted as well.

Another question: are the Rift and the Void the same thing? I don't recall very well, but I always thought the Rift was a section before the Void itself that didn't have the Void's negative effects.

The individual jobs don't have enough abilities on their own to really warrant that.

Equipment is a good idea.

Something something "mUh PiS"

aaaaand Bartz and co. were BFRed to the void before the final battle, they were not only fine but came back afterwards

Hmmm... perhaps you could group them in pairs, except for Mime which given how extensive the skillset is could get its own section. Magic could be separated in tabs as well given the number of spells each type has (except for Red Magic and Oath which could go together). I can make a draft of the format I mean and send it to you later, so you can try it out to see if it helps or not.

Ah, bummer, I though Bartz and co could kill non-existants on a conceptual level or something X(

I am asking about the Rift and the Void because of the Banish spell that some characters outside of FFV also have. I don't doubt Exdeath can send people straight to the Void, but when you use the spell it says "Banished to the Rift" IIRC. Given what the Void can do to a person, being able to BFR there directly with Banish would be considerably more deadly.

Also these exhibitions could be a good addition to Bartz' gallery section or at least to some part of the profile:

Most of the abilities look good, but might take a while to go over each one in depth.

Would Exdeath be able to resist these?

speaking of Exdeath, Neo Exdeath and Void Enuo Acausality Type 4 for being one with The Void, and The Void has no past present or future

Okay, taking a look further here's more input:

-I wouldn't put that the Ribbon or similar protects from "all status effects" (and list the ones in FFV) or specify it means all the ailments found in FFV, given it can be misread as all sort of negative conditions from anywhere.

-Perhaps it would be a good backup to link to an example of enemies stronger than Bartz whose elemental attacks can be nullified with Elemental protection, in order to solidify your point there.

-Regarding Chakra and similar abilities, removing status effects falls under Purification, specifically Type 3, so you can add that as well alongside the healing.

-I think the ability is spelled Shirahadori

-I think Blue Magic fits better within Power Mimicry than Reactive Evolution. Reactive evolution involves adaptation and the ability to grow stronger and respond and stand the threats better as well, becoming even more resistant to them, while Blue Magic simply means obtaining the spell Bartz was hit with.

-Berserk seems more akin to Berserk Mode than Rage Power given the Berserk status does come together with the loss of control and resistance to mind effects Berserk Mode has that Rage Power doesn't.

-I'd say put Control as Possession/Body Puppetry to be more specific.

-Cecil's attacks also have Darkness Manipulation, may be saying the obvious but just in case.

-It's a good idea to specify all the possible recipes with Alchemy. I don't think there's a proper Ability for it, the closes I can think of is Transmutation in itself, given how he works with the stuff and it's what is attributed to Edward Elric, one of the most well-known alchemists in fiction.

-I think it's important to raise the point that the Undead skill also has the drawback of being hurt by healing abilities.

-I'd also include Frog in Power Nullification, since being turned into one blocks several commands aside lowering attack.

-Yeah, we agreed that Flare is a nuclear fission and that Bahamut Megaflare and his Mega Evolutions's Z-Moves are stronger variants of it.

Aside that, everything's looking great!

I'm going to update his notable attacks and techniques page with tabbers to make everything easier to look at.

should Necromancer have Unholy Manipulation? Its dark arts are pretty explicitly evil versions of spells, like Hellfire, Hellwind, Dark Flare, etc.

Maybe I should separate abilities into Passive and active skills, while leaving magic as its own category.

Changes to his abilities section have all been applied. Maybe they can be implemented now while we decide on how to organize the notable attacks and techniques?

I have two proposals for how we handle this:

1. Split the job classes into groups by when they were achieved, and list all their abilities in there. There would be five tabs (Wind Crystal, Water Crystal, Fire Crystal, Earth Crystal, Sealed Temple) in total.

2. Split the job abilities into commands and passive abilities, and note on each ability which class it's from, leading to their only being two tabs.

Either way, All magic types should be separated and split by tabbers.

I think it's better to wait until the profile blog is fully done before updating it in the site proper, so you can spot details and possible mistakes and tend them more easily.

I think separating the abilities in method 2 could work very well.

Bumping this again

Also they should have the ability to interact with nonexistance since even prior to Neo Exdeath The Warriors of Dawn were able to hold back the void so it's somewhat consistent

Well, somebody needs to help out with contacting them in that case.
