ok i know this has been brought up before.. but why do we follow the Anime instead of the Manga for Super

While i know it would be easier to follow the anime as we get more contestant content but for other franchises not like Boruto,we only use the manga because it came first ?

we don't do the same for Dragonball Super

I mean the Dragonball Super Manga came first, releasing 20th of June while the first episode of Super aired on the 5th of July.

another argument is that the anime is a direct continuation of the original manga...but so is the manga of super as well, none of them have stated to be more canon than the other, heck i would even argue that the manga is more canon given the fact that Toriyama work closer with Toyataro and has said on numerous occasions that Toei changes alot of stuff even in his plot outlines.

This sounds like double standards to me.

and when i say that im not trying to be mean or criticize the wiki as a whole cause i really love this wiki and many of the members on it but this just doesn't make sense to me, also while i might be talking about Boruto and Dragonball this is likely to apply to many other franchise or future ones.

Yours sincerely Shadow

Well, the DBS anime is far more in-depth in terms of story material, and I think that Toriyama is heavily involved in the creation process, so we consider it as more valid than the manga.

However, I agree that we could technically start to scale from the Boruto anime for much the same reasons. I am not sure whether the Naruto creator is more heavily involved in that or the manga.

Two more things to consider:

1. The DBS manga is done by a different mangaka and not Toriyama.

2. The DBS manga outright skips some arcs and important material that the anime covers.

That is correct as well.

Toyataro's manga doesn't skip any ark at all, is just is continue the movie and the promotional movie manga, RoF is even refered in there, so it did actually happens.

Not sure how it works with Boruto tho, I'm guessing that the main author did the manga and anime is an adaptation.

@Antvasima i understand the reasoning for doing so, it does give more detail, but akira toriyama is not involved more with the anime than the manga, they both get story outlines written by Akira but the manga actually adapts these outline's more faithfully than the anime as noted by Akira toriayama who has also on many occasions criticized the anime. im not suggesting we use the manga, the anime gives way more detail than the manga and is as a whole a better source for feats, i just suggest we do the same with Boruto if not even more so, as the anime is supervised by the writer of the manga and should be considered along side the manga.

It happened. Yes. But the manga did not actually show it.

In order to consider both manga and anime of Boruto, one must check all Naruto Manga and Anime episodes/chapters [This would require a lot of time and a lot of people] in order to proper check the story, feats and powerscaling of everyone since Naruto is before Boruto, so they are linked and one must know everything that happened before in order to have a better understanting of the later events. Currently all the profiles needs to be fixed since Gwyn made some calc to prove that our profiles have problems [Zabusa and Kimimaro profile have wanked ap for example since Gwyn calced their feats at much lower results]. The Anime also links to facts that happened only in the anime and also manga events, so one must check all the manga and anime in order to say that wants to accept both anime and manga for Boruto, so if you want to do this, you should help Lina and Unite to fix Naruto both manga and anime continuities, after that you can deal with Boruto both continuities.

If one does not know all manga and anime of Naruto, one could never understand Boruto Manga and Anime. I don't want even the characters of that part of the story to have messed profiles like the Naruto ones.

@Dark649 as for naruto, the main source is manga, it was never the anime, the manga preceeded the anime by years and is pretty much accpeted to be the main canon by everyone with Boruto however it's another story, there isnt a single creator or form of canon, there is a manga adaption and a anime adaption which also acts as a prequel to the manga.

as for helping Lina and Unite, i would be more than happy to, but they are not busy with continuity errors or problems with canon, they are busy with calculating feats.

The manga was made before the anime and currently introduces the new antagonists and appears to tell the story in a faster manner while the anime will show a lot of filler episodes, then it will show Kinshiki and Momo arc, then a lot of of filler episodes and then the new arc of the manga. You can say that the Anime is the better version before it will include everything, but they made some slight changes to the Shin vs Sasuke fight from the manga and they are likely going to made some slight changes to the new arcs. It's better to follow the manga because it came before and deals the events in a better pacing.

Also whatenever you decide to follow the manga or the anime, there will be obliviously a lot of upgrade threads, which will be denied since the discussion rules says that we cannot deal with these series until all profiles are fixed.

there are no such things as "fillers" anymore as they both are equal in canon, the manga does not have better pacing either ,it feels like it because it came first, due to the manga being monthly it's likely to take longer and will eventually be overtaken by the anime in the long run anyway. as for it being first isn't a real good reason as i stated above the super manga was created first aswell but we consider the main canon the anime. regardless if we make the boruto anime canon or not , the rules should stay, i would not recommend the creation of Boruto profiles or upgrade threads until the naruto revisions are over.

Dark649 is correct. We haven't even been able to straighten out the Naruto scaling yet. Boruto will have to wait.

Should there be a thread dedicated to Boruto feats so that whenever the Naruto revisions are done, the individual(s) creating the Boruto profiles will have references with episodes/ time stamps, chapters, etc.? Might make things easier by saving them some time on research.

I have no problem if someone makes a thread dedicated about all the feats of towards the end of the Fourth Great Ninja where Gwyn stopped and Boruto.

It would likely be a waste of time though, given that we do not know when Lina and UMR will have the time to handle the Naruto revision.

This discussion huh..., Well everything that needed to be said was said by Dark649. I guess this should be closed then?.

it was never about upgrading boruto characters or feats.. just that the boruto's anime should be treated canon just like dragonball super..

I'm just gonna put it like this, If things happen in the anime that controdicts what happens in the manga or vice versa it shouldn't be taken, be it be feats or story.

I also don't know why you brought up DBS considering we only take the anime and not the manga.

So I don't mind if we use the anime with the manga so long as nothing controdicts it.

Given that we have to wait with scaling from Boruto anyway, I think that this discussion seems redundant for the moment. We should probably close this thread.

exactly.. thats an answer

thats all i wanted

The Boruto anime was disregarded earlier but the Super anime was not for the exact same reason. thats the main reason i brought it up, and then all of sudden everyone was talking about the revision thread and powerscaling and feats....

all i wanted to know is if we will accept the Boruto anime as canon.

@Shadowbokunohero

I'm fine with using it so long as we do use the parts controdicts the manga, So I do agree with you on using it.

We do not know yet. We will have to make a decision regarding this after the main Naruto project has been cleared up.

Yes, and given Lina's unclear future activity in this wiki, and UMR being occupied with studies, that could take quite some time.
