Doesn't Sarada become a chunin in the anime while she's still a genin in TBV?

we don't know the events of what happened between NNG and TBV, so I don't think it's right to use that against it.
The OP also uses the evidence that she calls herself the captain of the team in the manga, which would make her a chunin anyway. So she could've been demoted later.

Could be captain in terms of leading them in battle plans rather than literal rank. Also I'm not an expert on the anime but wouldn't Sarada becoming chunin have been after this point in the manga?

no they not alternative timelines, there are inconsistencies because of a difference in production pipelines, which isnt enough to stop something from being supporting canon (, the reason why we separate stuff like DB Super into manga and anime is because they diverge greatly between their main arcs.
we do this already for verse like star wars where we get movies, shows,comics, novels for every age demographic that all have slight changes but are all canon, in cases of contradictions that impact potentially scaling or indexing on the wiki we will use the manga.
so as an example if TBV had to say that Mitsuki and Boruto never fought before until recently then we would not take the anime fight into account for scaling.
