Devil May Cry Discussion Thread

Given the sales of the fifth game, a new DMC game is 100% coming (and even confirmed), just be patient and let them cook.

It's hilarious to see some people in this fandom so desperate about this when other franchises/series are in much worse situations.

Wow already a new meme was made

Given how he treated Dante in his show he's more likely to pay them to humiliate and downplay Dante more next time.
I know we joking and all, but they said a lot of times they refuse bribe from sponsors and such, they even say their characters can lose and die and if its ok with that, if a character loses, its by their opinion on how they treat their scaling and all

The recent RE Requiem stuff just blows everything DMC combined. Without Itsuno, it may take a bit of time to get their bearings back but I'm still confident in Capcom that they can deliver. They have consistently created great games across the board with the RE Engine, and even when creative leads left, it doesn't mean the series dies with them. It's not like Street Fighter died when Ono left, but instead we got something arguably better with SF6.

Praying for next time
🙏

SSM takes GoW franchise very seriously. Like machine on an ambitious machine. Which is why both Sony investors and audeince take the franchise seriously. Same can be said about Fromsoft. Hence the regular investment and game dev cycles.

Capcom dropped ball with DMC almost every alternate game. With DMC2, with DMC4, with Reboot etc... So it never got the sincere effort it needed as a franchise to grow into proper maturity. Hence there is no confidence. Compare that with Resident Evil, with very few misses but mostly consistent results, hence the continued investment.
If Capcom had been more ambitious and serious about DMC development, went big with proportional investment, it would be just as successful.

Just because they say something doesn't mean it's what's actually happening.

They gave Wonder Woman repeated wins right when her movies looked like the future of the DC films, then dropped her after her sequel flopped. They were owned by the same company as DC at the time. It's literally impossible for them to be completely objective when the company that owns them also owns the characters they're pitting against other characters owned by competitors of that parent company.

I suspect their Dante Clive matchup was just them liking Clive's game and wanting to promote it. It's a game that failed partly due to the Westernising of Japanese games, so them using Clive at all was weird. Making up suspicious reasons for him to win on top of that reeks of trying to promote a game and Westernising practice which they approve of. Keep in mind the failure of Clive's game is sending yet again the message to Japanese studios that stripping the games of all Japanese culture and identity is not a winning move. My guess is DB prefers Westernised Japanese games.

Capcom did claim that they are trying to expand the series so take that however the **** you wish at this point.

DC still lost many of their matches even ones they shouldnt in some cases, Warner Bros could care less of a internet show like Death Battle

Thats assumption without any indication, also Clive made a guest appearance in another title, what promotion would they give to it when it didnt have many views like most vids recently

DC Comics has been unsuccessful financially for years. It's an IP company at this point rather than a book company. The movies and games were what was profitable. They were banking on the Wonder Woman films after the success of the first one.

Not the top people, but lots of middle people exist who could all push for that show to advertise the character they were banking on.

I did say I suspect it. They most definitely downplayed Dante, and they definitely used a character who isn't all that notable or successful.

TBF with the Clive thing, I think it was just Torrian who wanted it and thus DB begrudgingly accepted.

That's why research sucks ass and had zero effort, even the whole 6 minutes bs just seemed like a quick solution for what seemed like a predestined victory for Clive.

Yeah, bias.

Yes but to me it seems like it was less their own doing and more that they could make a quick buck if they took Torrian on whatever he proposed with that fight
True, typical stuff really. If he had a predetermined outcome and only animates it if they use that outcome.
