I recently said to Wokistan that it's funny that a Culexus Assassin would absolutely stomp the sh*t out of Mewtwo but would lose to a Machamp. But I should probably put my money where my mouth is. Who actually does win between the two? Speed equalized.

Pokken shiny machamp by coolshallow-d8fdzv7

Machamp isn't haxxed or whatever so he shouldn't suffer too much from the passives, though mind stuff is still quite disorienting. The Culexus can obliterate a soul with a touch, phase in and out of reality, and is pretty much invisible. Machamp has more than enough AP to one shot.

Phasing in and out of reality is a pretty big issue for the pokemon unless they have a counter I'm not seeing. Cal?

Pretty certain pokemon has countered the other stuff and the soul thing essentially just makes it equally as likely that a Culexus one-shots Machamp.

It's ability No Guard allows it to hit Pokémon who are in the semi-invulnerable stage of Phantom Force, which is analogous to the phasing in and out of reality that the Assassin does.

CAs should drastically outskill as well. The mental stuff, while not crippling, is still disorienting enough to have some effect. Regular humans can barely stand to be in the same room as a restricted culexus, after all. Between that, the skill gap, and being near invisible, I'd say the assassin gets it's one touch off before Machamp.

Surprisingly, Machamp is like, unbelievably skilled. It has mastered every single martial art there is.

Clearly verse equalization effects this and as such Machamp now scales in skill to your verse + 1

The major feats I remember rn besides killing stuff far above their tier on the regular are for vindciares, but off the top of my head all assassin's are so good at dodging that it's mistaken for supernatural ability, can process amounts of information in minute time frames that would cause even experienced space Marines to be overloaded, and endure extremely rigorus training for most of their lives. With Culexuses in particular, they have to hide from the Inquisition since blanks are technically illegal, and with malcador dead and the emperor crippled, the branches that would have all blanks wiped out don't really have a reason to not anymore. Wouldn't be the first imperium civil war, after all.

This comment shall be where I post quotes, generally I'll just edit this unless it's specifically a response to something.

Basic training for all assassin's:

Training starts even as the Assassinorum ships return to Terra, with the Officio instructors testing their prospective pupils mercilessly. The recruits must survive on limited food or air for days at a time. They must constantly fight each other in armed and unarmed combat, in conditions of total darkness or blinding light, zero-G or crushing weight, stifling heat or freezing cold. By the time of their arrival, there may be only a tenth of the prospective Assassins left, or sometimes ― if the instructors deem every recruit to be unworthy ― none at all. Upon arrival at Terra, the surviving initiates begin the next stage of their training. Sailing past the space-borne basilicas, immense queues of pilgrim craft and military cordons that congest Terra's outer orbit, they are carried down into the Temples Assassinorum under the most advanced of shrouding protocols. In subterranean safehouses, these new recruits are divided amongst the hidden temples of the Officio Assassinorum. Each temple has its own ancient ways and mysteries, and each specialises in a different aspect of the art of murder. There are many such temples, some of which are known to the others and some that remain completely secret. There, the initiates train for a full decade, labouring under the auspices of Lord Assassins so harsh they make the drill abbots of the Schola Progenium look like kindly uncles by comparison. The training procedure becomes ever more rigorous over the years as the temples test each candidate to his or her utmost limits. Days are spent battling with bone-wrenching exercise engines, fighting in deadly bouts or mastering their tolerance for pain. Initiates must survive lengthy courses of psycho-indoctrination and aggressive hypnosis, undergo physical tests of ever-escalating severity, and digest vast quantities of information about the Imperium that will soon be their hunting ground. They must train in the most esoteric of weaponry and steel their bodies against the ravages of endless steroids and stimms. Even then, they have only scratched the surface of their temple's potential arsenal. The hidden orders of the Assassinorum conceal masterpieces of destruction, some of which were devised by the Primarchs, Malcador the Sigilite, and even the Emperor Himself. Truly, each temple houses a thousand deaths and more.

Invisibility stuff:

Perhaps most
unsettling of all, the Etherium also renders the Culexus Assassin nearly impossible to detect, whether by conventional senses or via complex mechanical sensors. For this reason, the advance of the Culexus is more of a relentless prowl than a headlong rush, as the Assassin stalks towards the target with the inevitability of death itself. A Culexus can stand in the very same room as his target yet remain hidden, his victims feeling only a mounting sense of unease, and glimpsing nothing but phantoms haunting their peripheral vision.

The Culexus Assassin Dranos is sent to destroy the Sorcerer Xantaka before he can conjure any more daemonic legions from the Warp. Being all but invisible to not only the aethersight of Xantaka's Daemon armies but also his Rubricae bodyguard, Dranos simply walks up to the Sorcerer Xantaka and burns his brains to ash with a blast of negative energy.

Yeah so the invis turns out to be better than I remembered it being

Remember how I mentioned No Guard above? The ability essentially forces every attack to hit. Granted, it goes both ways (every one of the opponent's attacks will hit too), and obviously has limits and game mechanics to take into account.

Yeah but how's he gonna know to do it when he's apparently barely aware that he's fighting anything besides a pounding sense of dread and bread and nausea

I think it's linked as space marine durability. It's not really relevant in this match though, as the culexus dies if hit by a tier 6 and obliterates the soul if they get a hit.

One of Machamp's moves is Foresight, which allows it to identify things that are in a similar situation.

Also, No Guard (in game, as actual application would have difference) would have Machamp just throw a punch willy nilly and it lands. Like, No Guard doesn't care if you're underwater, in the air, underground, in another dimension, etc.

Well I have no idea where the calc is I just know it exists. Arrogant, I can post it here if I find it.

Can you even get a Pokemon with a lock on type move and an instakill? Lol

Funny you should talk about it. Pokemon transferred from the Virtual Console versions of Red and Blue are locked into their Hidden Ability, which means they can't have their normal ability. People believe this is because of one reason:

Fissure, an OHKO move, is a TM. Machamp can learn Fissure via TM in that gen. So if Machamp had access to its normal ability once transferred, everything dies to Fissure.

I just posted both daemonic aethersight and rubricae (which shouldn't be affected by really any of the Culexus' other powers) not working though, as well as machinery not being able to detect these guys.

So Culexus have FTL reactions, can obliterate souls and is comparable if not more skilled so the Culexus should take this.

Also I dont know if it was dealt with but can Machamp even see the Culexus?

Ok well this comes down to skill if Machamp can see and touch the Culexus and since Machamp one shots via AP and Culexus one shots via Soul Destruction.

Well I'm gonna probably go to sleep, voting for culexus for my reasons

If Machamp knows every martial art, I'm gonna say he has skill advantage. Not that Culexus is unskilled but that's... a lot of arts.

Assuming Cal is correct in that Machamp can see invis and counter dimension hopping, I'd vote Incon tbh, but leaning towards Machamp. The skill advantage isn't large enough that he'd take this a notable amount of times more than Culexus considering it's basically just who kills who first.

A Pokémon uses the move, and invisible things are able to be seen, any illusions in the general area are dispelled, intangibles are able to be hit, and nullifies evasion.

The latter two are in the game, while the former two happen in the anime.

Apparently it also gives you x-ray vision, but that's not important lol.

I mean with Verse Equilization its anything "supernatural" not just psychic stuff.

Acutally Machomp might be affected by the Stats Reduction.
