Not killing the villain because they're a good guy or because we need more sequels

Rushing in without a plan

Examples:

JJBA Eyes of Heave: Funny Valentine doesn't make it obvious that he's betraying HA DIO until he's already thrown another universe's DIO at him.

Mega Man (Franchise): Mega Man kills Wily in the first game and, though nobody ever looks at him the same again, he saves literally trillions of lives in the present and future from Wily's would-be future plans, the Maverick Virus, the Dark Elf and Model W.
