Perhaps. But Kubo also paints a puzzle piece by piece, so until we have far more to work out the details with, we won't entirely know. It could end up being Uryu growing to despise Shinigami, which actually could be a stronger case considering that with Ichigo, Uryu would've understood Orihime will heal him and prevent him from dying. But with Renji, he got separated from everyone. Definitely could be more at play

Uryu lost to Senjumaru. Uryu used hax to escaped her Bankai and had her Bankai effects hold on Senjumaru before one shot with Vollstandig.
Renji is set up to be find by Ichigo’s crew, Orihime heals, and gang talks about Uryu’s friendship once more.
Renji getting healed from this near death experience is going to making stronger, so he could fight Gerard and Yhwach at the end of the series.

I'm actually really invested when it comes to how they're treating Uryu's character this arc. From the manga he was far more merciful with handling his friends: This fight obviously didn't happen and Lille had to finish off Ichigo after he merely made him fall through the floor. Here he straight up turns Ichigo into Toji Fushiguro and donuts Renji.
I feel like Uryu might have a more complex goal and personality in mind when it comes to the anime's interpretation.

I actually think it's because Uryu is straight up going the way of the Bach. If he's a double agent, he's doing too good of a job at it. Obviously Renji couldn't handle Sklaverai and Uryu would've known that, but he went for the overkill option and popped his level 3.

Kinda makes me worried on how they'll handle Ichigo vs Askin. If Ichigo's gonna lose, at least have it be a reason like Askin actually being relative to him or showing what killed him in particular.

I really hope this chapter clears out all the misunderstanding about Renji's power and his position in the Bleach's Power Ranking. I don't know if you see this a lot in the English-speaking communities, but in Spanish/Latinoamericans communities I see a lot of brain rot happening. A lot of people really believe Renji is very low, even after the Squad 0 training.

This happens in the english speaking community as well. People treat Renji like he's Yamcha when he has a pretty solid W/L ratio.
Hopefully this episode makes it very clear Renji isn't a joke by any means

I can assure you that this happens in the English community too. A lot more people are realizing that Renji is really strong thanks to this episode, but sadly, some people aren't.
I know it's YouTube comments, but I've seen a person who legitimately says that even after this episode, Renji would get beat by any character that's above an Assistant/Vice-Captain/Lieutenant. I'm serious.
There are also people in the same thread arguing that Renji would lose to Soi Fon.

The Bleach subreddit generally have at least some brain cells. YouTube comment sections are a lottery, especially if they're a reaction channel's comment section.
Anyway, the logic used was hilarious.
This was their exact comment, "I should note that Renji is not even standing next to the zero squad, any captain, and in general a person stronger than a lieutenant will be able to defeat him, because he is only shown in the anime as over strong, most likely for the fan base that he has (by the way, it is not clear to me either, because as a character he is frankly shitty), If you look at his abilities, I'm afraid that everything is very weak there"
I responded to them, and this was their response, "He doesn't have any powerful feats or big experience, he doesn't even have a good plot bro, what are you watching?"
(I should remind everyone that this was a comment on a video of someone reacting to this very episode, meaning they had to have seen at least his fight. I think they mostly just don't like Renji, which is why they try to discredit his strength).
I just checked; it's the same person, "Rose and Kensei yeah, but not Soi Fon I think. Her speed will carry in my opinion"
They were responding to this comment, "Renji is captain level in terms of power but not experiences enough like others like Byakuya, he is indeed above Rose and Kensei, even Soi Fon" which was responding to the first comment I posted above.

I will give the subreddit credit, they aren't dumb (aside from some powerscaling takes like the general discredit of Kenpachi's strength and scaling in CFYOW), but Youtube? Nah. They fr cannot grasp the idea of CFYOW's statements being true, or saying shit like "but Hikone was a failure." they weren't a failure enough to be Soul King level, that's for sure. Also them being the same people to think Ichigo low diffs Yamaji using "AP carries" when Ichigo also blitzes, powernulls, and overall takes every point except general intelligence (I would even argue Ichigo has a far better battle IQ) Ichigo NEGATIVE DIFFS Yama

YouTube is a mixed bag. On one hand, you have people genuinely downplaying Bleach to hill level. On the other, you have people wanking Bleach to outerversal.

Crazy how some people are on copium: "R-R-Renji's new power doesn't make sense, bro." Did we watch the same show? No way Renji receiving divine training made him relative to those who trained him, right? The same goes for Byakuya and Rukia if they show feats that "contradict" power expectations. Last time I checked, most people believe Ulquiorra was the strongest Espada. Don’t trust the Spanish speaking community on anything related to powerscaling. I speak from experience.
