BAN-KAI! Bleach General Discussion

I just watched Bleach: Memories of Nobody for the first time (I bought the movie a year ago and just never watched it), and it was pretty good! I'm glad it and Senna are canon.

For power scaling, I noticed that Urahara and Mayuri never actually refer to our compare the World of the Living or the Soul Society to planets (granted, I was watching the English dub).

I'm watching The DiamondDust Rebellion now.

If there's one thing I can commend the movies and anime filler on is that they utilize the side characters, Kids, the Stealth Force, and the Kido Corps way more than the canon stuff ever has.

I actually just got to watching Memories of Nobody recently. It's a really good movie and I can see why Kubo considered it canon. Senna was such a good character

Is it bad that I kind of want Kubo to somehow canonize the filler arcs and movies?
Depends on what arc really. Would I want the other three movies to be canon? No (except the interpretation of hell from Hell Verse. But Kubo could end up juicing it up even more.) Would I want some filler arcs to be canon, depends. The Reigai Arc I'd want to be canon simply for the fights, I mean holy shit they cooked hard, but the Zanpakuto Rebellion Arc would be the best for overall story purposes, especially since Kubo himself did the designs for the Zanpakuto spirits and there isn't many contradictions to the story.

Of course I think it's universally agreed upon that the Bount Arc can go straight to the bottom of the barrel and never come out.

The neat thing about the Reigai arc is that the studio actually managed to slot it in between the aftermath of Ichigo vs Aizen and the final scenes of the pre-timeskip.

I kind of liked the Bount arc.

Speaking of animation, who is you guys' favorite animator for Bleach? Not sure if anyone here is into animation like that, but I'm curious.

Personally my favorites are Takashi Hashimoto, Yoshihiro Kanno, and Hiroyuki Yamashita. Hashimoto has some of the smoothest effects (He did the effects for when Ichigo pulled out his True Zanpakuto in The Blade is Me and he also did work on OG Bleach too like this scene from Memories of Nobody), Yoshihiro Kanno did some of the best swordplay the TYBW has had so far, particularly Ichigo vs Yhwach from episode 7, and Yamashita did, well, a lot, like the guns and missle scene from I AM THE EDGE. I also have Saucelot and Dominic Farro as honorable mentions because of their insane work on episode 6.

I'm going to be honest, I don't know any of the animators at all.

Anyway, this Oin artifact is pretty busted. If we ever make non-canon Bleach profiles, it has space-time manipulation, dimensional travel, matter manipulation, resurrection, etcetera.

I think it's hilarious that almost all of the problems in Bleach (especially in the filler, movies, and, as far as I know, the video games) are either directly or indirectly caused by the Soul Society. It's honestly impressive how many messes they cause.

So, I just finished watching all four Bleach movies. Here are my rankings.

1. Fade to Black

I genuinely loved everything about it, and I'm sad it's not canon.

2. Memories of Nobody

Senna was great. I'm glad it's canon.

3. Hell Verse

Easily the best animation and fights. Also, dang, Ichigo gets dragged through the mud here.

4. The DiamondDust Rebellion

I liked it, but it was the least interesting of the three.

I would give more detailed reviews, but I don't feel like it.

Man, I'm going back and seeing how much Kubo is making Yhwach more of a threat in the anime and solidifying 2-C Bleach.

So far I think every point that people use to debunk 2-C Bleach the anime has already countered and it seems to become more and more solid with almost every passing episode.

In episode 27, we have the Ichibei midcard, which solidly scales Ichibei to 2-C.

In episode 28, we have Urahara saying that the three realms + Dangai are in danger of destruction.

In episode 29, Yhwach also states this, which in the manga he only says the Soul Society was in danger.

In episode 30, Urahara debunks the destruction of the verse being tied to the balance of souls.

And finally in episode 31, Shunsui states that Yhwach threatens the entire verse (in which he also corrected himself on it as well).

What other arguments need to be countered? If there's not any, the only way Bleach can go is up, and with Cour 4 leaving quite a lot of space, it makes me wonder if he'll go even further beyond (yes that was intentional)

Ok so it’s confirmed this episode that the Vollständig that Uryu used against Ichigo was the Sklaverei version. Also all that talk about Renji nearly killing Uryu was bs.

Base Uryu w/o using Blut was indeed weaker than True Bankai Renji but he was still able to hurt him and make him bleed. And after he used Blut even Renji’s Zagga Teppo did 0 damage to Base Uryu point blank.

And with his normal Vollständig he completely overpowered True Bankai Renji. Renji just has a Hakuteiken like technique called Zagaizekka that takes 20 seconds to charge up to use that’s way more powerful than his normal True Bankai abilities. That’s the only thing that Renji had that’s stronger than Vollständig Uryu. But even then that didn’t really take him out. Uryu using Sklaverei Vollständigwas just plain overkill.

It does seem that Ichigo still is quite stronger. Although, I will give Renji credit speed-wise, keeping up with base Uryu isn't easy, and he even did it in base as well.

I told you.

Should’ve trusted my friend’s words I guess. He was in fact right about Uryu’s Vollständig being the Sklaverei version due to the reishi absorption effect shown when the episode first came out. Thought it was a normal Vollständig at first since Uryu didn’t say Sklaverei but I guess he could enter that form without saying it out loud.

Dang, Renji's pretty strong. He's still not as strong as Ichigo or Uryu, but that's a nice upgrade for him. Also, they are really making sure that it seems like Uryu is the villain. He straight up killed Renji (as far as we can tell from the episode)! Uryu is also getting more and more busted as they show off more of his abilities, and he hasn't even used his Schrift with his Voll Stern Dich yet!

As expected while he performed extremely well Renji wasn't really match for Uryu, that vollstandig + sklaverei was kinda overkill. Still Renji pierrot cooked
