Are Dragon ball super characters really MFTL+ in combat speed or is it only their flight speed??

DB had mostly had flight speed as < combat speed. And while all their feats have been flight, and I used to think that they're basically Superman when it comes to flight speed, we recently changed our rules about flight speed.

Yeah but the problem is it was always flight < combat speed in dbz. But it has yet to be established that flight in space < combat speed

To my knowledge, yeah. I remember having a problem with not just DBS, but that one too. Though I'm pretty sure the reasoning is the same. Combat > flight. I'll go recheck Matt's blog about it.

Well Saint seiya's combat speed > flight speed is justifiable since they fight around beings with comparable speeds and even earlier in the series it is explained that their combat speed is greater than their flight speed. But the problem in dragon ball super is that even fodders can react to top tier's combat speed...

See I don't believe the dbs characters combat speed are mftl+ a lot people say it is because of flight speed but that is not combat speed. Even on this site their are different classifications of speed their is travel speed, reaction speed, combat speed etc. So tbh unless the DBS character have LEGIT mftl+ combat speed feats and not just travel speed feats it needs to be downgraded ASAP.

Albeit you're right about fodders like Bulma being able to follow a fight making no sense at all, we'll just have to treat it as an outlier, even as early as the 21st Budokai Tenkaichi characters have shown speed that was impossible to see for the regular human's eye. It'd be ridiculous to say that the current characters haven't become faster since then.

@Abel Nightroad Rules, I'm not 100% sure about this, but Combat Speed and Flight Speed should still be somewhat related. Besides the only times characters couldn't see other characters, was when their Combat Speed surpassed their eyes not because they were flying too fast.

DB have always had better combat speed feats than travel speed feats and the only thing thats changed since then is Whis.

Whis is the top dog of the universe also being the fastest to show this they have him traveling the universe in small time frames but just because we finally have flight speed feats it does not mean combat speed should magically be lower for some inexplicable reason.

The main reason we dont have character fighting across galaxies is because its currently impossible. The story focuses on the people on Earth so all the fights involve people who cant leave the planet, not the Gods who can can basically take the fight wherever they please.

For reference the Manga had Beerus and Champa fighting across planets.

What Rad said, to a lesser extent. Having better combat speed feats in a previous series doesn't mean that it's explicitly higher, especially considering how the new flight speed feats blow it out of the water, but with the new rules and because DB is assumed to be that case, then its agreeable to have flight speed be combat speed.

Thank you for the replies. I was just irritated by the fact that even fodders were able to keep track of Goku's fighting and also by the fact that many people in youtube comment sections claim that Goku is only supersonic in combat speed...

They also claim Saitama and Superman are omnipotent so its best not to let them get to you.
