In comparison to his younger self, which is referred to as 3'3" as recently as 2014, I don't feel Adventure-onward could still be within the 3 foot range.

That's still basically 1 meter which is Sonic's justification for having Small Size. Knuckles is basically the same height as Sonic too

No. Since he is larger than one meter, he doesn't qualify. 1 meter is the largest one can be and still qualify for small size

There's also the fact that his speed only said MFTL instead of MFTL+ despite the justification being scaling to Sonic and Shadow who are MFTL+
