i see post crisis supes profile says that he is resistant to time manipulation and time stop, but the feats which are given for this resistance blatantly contradict themselves, in fact prove otherwise.

1. time manipulation - https://imgur.com/CmyAapu

"fast enough almost to negate the effects of my temporal modulation field" this statement suggests that supes is fast enough to reduce the effect of the slowed down time, but that's not the entire context here.

Supes not resistant to time hax
"faster and faster...days and nights passing outside distortion field is decreasing! i'm catching up to real time"

as you can see, when superman was under the field which slowed down time and as a result, slowed down the perception of time for superman and his movements, he just moved faster and faster and faster until he caught up to real time or the normal perception of time.

this is like when you try to slow down your opponent's movements. so his hands and body moves 10 times slower than usual. this in itself proves that the opponent is affected by your time manipulation. now the opponent increases his speed 10 times over and he is back to normal, caught up to real time.

that's what happened in this feat. the feat proves supes was affected and was slowed down. he just increased his speed to neutralise the affect and that's not called innate resistance.

2. time stop

"i feel my blood go sluggish in my veins, my vision begin to dim...my cells start to shut down...if i don't act quickly..."

these statements alone prove that the effect of chrono suspension was incomplete. as indicated by these statements, the chrono suspension was affecting supes as his blood and cells were slowing and shutting down, but the affect was still happening as supes can feel it happening. which means that the effect was not instant.

now supes says "if i don't act quickly..." implying that if he didn't act quickly the effect will be completed. his cells will shut down, blood will stop flowing etc. clearly insinuating that supes had to act quickly before the effect took it's full toll to break out of it. so there is no confirmation of what would've happened if the effect was completed, if supes didn't "act quickly". and going by that statement it looks like supes was not confident in himself if he could break out of it if it was completed.

so neither was this an instantaneous time stop as it was taking some time to take its full effect. nor did supes break out of a full-fledged time stop, as he broke out of it before it was completed, and supes statement implies that he would've been frozen if he didn't act quickly.

Reading this, it makes sense. I agree with the revisions proposed. Seems more-so that Superman can "overpower" the effects of time manipulation if he exerts himself, and can't neccesarily just resist it passively

What exactly is Full Chronosuspension? Does it mean that time in that particular space is paused?

Is he surrounded by ice or something else?

I also think that this seems to make sense.

I'd rather get Matthew Schroeder on this since he's the one who added the resistances in the first place.

I still think this would qualify for resistance, since most profiles tend to use it as a barely veiled substitute for immunity.

The fact that he doesn't immediately succumb to the affects of this time manipulation means that he at least has some defense against it.

Rebirth's Superboy has a similar feat to the above in which he shatters Time Commander's Time Stop after the latter froze Superboy and the Teen Titans. However, he didn't just walk out of Time Stop, but he still resisted its effects by ultimately nullifying it with pure willpower even though he was initially affected.

Okay. You can ask Matthew to give input here, if you wish.

@Ant

I've left a message on his wall.

I also remember that Superman has other feats of resisting time powers, but I'm not sure where to find them at this time.

I think this interpretation of feats makes sense. Especially the first part.

1. I agree with the OP. Superman didn't resist the effect of temporal modulation field infact he was affected. He just increased his speed to nullify the effect of slowness. This is a feat of increasing his speed via acceleration, rather than resisting time manipulation.

2. I agree with both Reppuzan and the OP. It really depends on how one interprets the feat. But the difference in associating it with Rebirth Superboy is that he broke out of it while the time stop was in its full effect. So although Superboy was affected at first but he developed resistance and broke out of it even when time stop was in full effect.

In Superman's case, the chrono suspension was still under progress i.e. incomplete. It seems like he himself wasn't sure of what would've happened if chrono suspension took its full effect and he broke out of it in due time. So whether it should be a resistance to said attack, or a shortcoming of the attack itself? I am leaning towards the latter.

But if there are some other feats for post crisis Supes which I don't know of, then it will be a different story.

Superman has resistance to Time Manipulation but it is not an instant resistance. He has to exert himself to succeed.

It's similar to Jiren and Hit. Jiren resisted Hit's Time Abilities but it took him some time to learn how to do it.

The second scan proves that Superman can break free of time stop.

Nothing indicates that the Chrono Suspension was incomplete, just that Superman would be completely shut down if he didn't act (Like, his brain would shut down too). So he exerted himself and broke free through sheer strength.

It's a blatant Time Stop resistance feat.

Okay then. Should we close this thread?
