About lasers and similar stuff

While discussing Thor (Marvel Cinematic Universe)'s durability, I put out a bit research because Nidavellir acts like a pulse laser. And I found out this:

"The energy of a laser typically refers to the output of a pulsed laser and is related to the power output, where the energy (E) is the laser's peak power (PPEAK) multiplied by the laser pulse duration (t): E = PPEAK x t."

Even for CW (continuous wave) lasers the formula is:

Energy (J)=Power (W) * time (s)

Let's use some real values and assume you are working with a CW laser that outputs 500 W. If you fire this laser at an object for exactly 5 seconds, then you have 500 W * 5 s = 2500 J.

So we need a serious discussion about this about laser attacks and similar stuff
 
I am told by the OP to give my comments.


I can understand how the concept works, but the actual workout can be tricky.

Say currently Iron Man (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is Building level (Can generate 3 gigawatts) at Mark 1 | Building level+ (Can generate 8 gigawatts at Mark 2-5 | Large Building level (Can generate 10 gigawatts) at Mark 6 Onward. But if we apply E = P t, Iron Man can grow immensely stronger just by shooting into the same spot for a long time (which is part of his attacking style).

Which is how he contributed to damaging Vibranium body Ultron
 
Now bear in mind that I am no sort of expert on lasers. But I've always understood two things about lasers and how we treat AP and dura in this wiki:

1) E = pt has t referring to the pulse time of the laser. That time may be something to the pulses of the lasers, not the actual length of time that the laser is pointed at someone.

2) AP and dura on wiki is calculated using a single attack. Jones could technically have 6-C durability for chilling in lava for millions of years, but we don't treat durability like that. AP works the same way.
