So can someone summarize why Denji loses in a sentence?

Shiranui can fight equally enough with him to (eventually) hit Real Eater (possibly supported by Denji's in-character behaviour) and hitting with Real Eater is gg because all of his abilities become useless.

you can still strengthen your muscles to take hits you initially wouldn't. when one is on guard or bracing oneself for a punch, etc. etc.
And you can hold back by always keeping your muscles in a relaxed state and so on and so forth.
