We still don't know how much Goku or 17 was holding back, So we don't know if 17 can match a completely full power SSB.
But if we assumed he is on that level, 17 wins because of infinite energy.

Mind you that Vegeta was already superior than Goku (even stated by him) at the beginning of the tournament arc or end of the Goku Black arc. Then he got a full year of training. I woudnt underestimate the Prince of All Saiyans. Even if 17 is at the level of SSB Goku, I put my money on Geets.

Well, 17 isnt even necessarily on SSB Goku's level, and Vegeta should be quite above that, so yes, its backed up and logical.
