STRONGEST One-Punch Man Discussion Thread!

I was rereading the Phoenix Man fight a minute ago and thought to myself "I wonder when we'll see this in anime" until i had the realization. 😭
 
This new translator guy cleaned, redrew and translated this chapter in two hours

According to the end credits pages he tacked on this is the second chapter he's translated today, also.

U/southern-emotion2192 is using black magic to do the work of an entire fan translation team... I just can't prove it (except I kinda can. Look at the chapter cover page and read the tiny black box text under chapter 229: Interception in the bottom left corner, s*** looks AI-translated as hell)

Anyways, just some calcs to do if anyone else is willing to do them... I will be very slow in getting to them after work

  1. Suiko AP (calculate the explosion of the orb she parried in the background, this will give the best results, likely 8-C, and she scales directly for punchin' it)
  2. Suiko speed (calculate the speed required to jump over the gap and outrun the explosions, it may give a decent subsonic transonic result)
  3. Blue bike speed (probably in two chapters when he arrives at the HA. He'll likely reach the HA in a few minutes, travelling several thousand km in the process with a hypersonic+/MHS travel speed)

Honestly I always preferred this nickname, it matches Speed of Sound Sonic much better and just looks and sounds nicer imo.

I guess the gimmicky "Flashy Flash" name better serves the fact these are parody ninjas and not full-blooded seinen action ninjas
 
Because Lightspeed Flash was just made up by old fan TL teams. His name actually translates to "Flash of Light" which in japanese must sound redundant but in english the joke makes no sense. So the correct choice would have been localizing it as "Shining Flash" as it's the one that is closer to the intended joke without sounding as goofy as "Flashy Flash" or a complete fabrication like "Lightspeed Flash".

In the Russian version of the manga, he's still called "Light Flash," and all of his moves have the word "light" in their names. Because of this, many thought he had the speed of light and may still not know his original name.

Well that sucks, my favorite version of the name isn't an accurate translation.

I forget, do you speak Japanese? How do you know the specifics of this?
 
I still don't understand why the webcomic translation team decided to go with the name "Rover" instead of "Pochi". That's like translating Saitama's name to "Robert" because it sounds too Japanese.
