Unless if their souls directly correlate with their physical state, and thus have their physicals scale to their soul, their AP doesn't matter
it'd just be able to tank the AP aspect though, soul crush has like 20 different ailments, and if they don't resist all of them they'll get affected either way
And DB characters do get affected by soul crush
