Jujutsu Kaisen Discussion Page #1

People are forgetting that the 3rd finger was released by Kenjaku and the curses just to take a look on Sukuna's abilities
After that they went to the restaurant and Jogo asked Kenjaku how strong I am? Kenjaku said 8 or 9
So no it's not just an assumption from Gojo, Kenjaku as well confirmed that Jogo was stronger than Sukuna at that time

True but I remember Kenjaku using the phrase "Being generous, I'd say about 8 or 9 fingers" in his estimation of Jogo's power. I do believe Jogo is stronger than 3F Sukuna, it's just a little up in the air as to how much the difference is.

My main issue with Jogo's scaling is the fact that he has some incredibly powerful techniques and a large reserve of CE, however when it comes to individual stats he doesn't have much going for him. He's less durable than Hanami who is damaged by GWE Yuji, he's comparable in speed to Hanami who gets tagged by GWE Yuji, and his AP outside of Maximum Meteor (which is successfully evaded by the likes of Panda) is largely featless, only successfully damaging an already fatigued and damaged Nanami, Maki, and Naobito (and even then it failed to kill them, Maki survived it relatively okay, Nanami was burnt but continued fighting, and Naobito was hit twice and still was stated to have lived for several hours after before dying to his wounds).

Even when he fought Sukuna, Jogo acknowledge the gap between them is larger than he assumed (bringing into question the 8F level estimate) and Sukuna simply regards Jogo as "not bad" before dismissing him, and yet when he fights Mahoraga he growing visibly excited merely because Mahoraga could've MAYBE defeated his 3F self. Jogo may have greater CE reserves and a stronger attack than anything 3F Sukuna has, but overall I just don't see Jogo having the feats to win a fight against 3F Sukuna.

A: His surname is just because it sounded cool. As for the given name, the meaning of the kanji is pretty spot-on. (*TN: The kanji for yu - 憂 means "to grieve" and "melancholy")

A: When I said that cursed spirits aren’t born from jujutsu sorcerers, I was referring to the fact that there is practically no excess discharge of cursed energy from sorcerers, so cursed energy can’t accumulate somewhere and cause the creation of a cursed spirit (since their cursed energy can never accumulate in the first place). Jujutsu sorcerers themselves are capable of turning into cursed spirits so, in Rika’s case, Okkotsu unintentionally latched onto Rika’s soul with his own cursed energy. It’s fundamentally impossible to deliberately keep souls of the deceased from passing on but this caused a binding to occur, like a glitch in the system - because Okkotsu was entirely unconscious about doing it (he truly wants her to pass on peacefully) and due to Rika’s strong desire to be with Okkotsu.

Q: Is there a reason why people involved in the jujutsu world didn't pay attention to any incidents involving Rika for 6 years?
A: At the beginning, there wasn’t a lot of trouble (most incidents were related to his family) but the decisive factor happened before the locker-stuffing scene in volume 0, in which a major incident was investigated and later documented. A few of the jujutsu sorcerers in charge of the investigation were killed. It was then Gojo’s turn to deal with this matter.

A: He didn’t let Rika out, it was like Rika came out on her own. The clean-up afterwards was hard.

A: He came a normal Grade 4 sorcerer. That’s why his uniform was black at the end of Volume 0. (White uniforms are for problem children, so they can be spotted easily from a distance) and then he was reinstated as a Special Grade soon after.

A: It hadn’t reached that point yet. Unlike Sukuna, Rika was still a bit of a mystery, so I think the old man was just keeping an eye on them to see how it played out.

my good fellow, there are about 20 seperate anime feats that we do not use some that would bump up mid tiers and top tiers into 7-C to high 7-C in AP and provide top tiers speeds in the high hyper range we don't use them because we have little to no confirmation of Gege's oversight over the anime which makes the anime a tertiary canon meaning we can't use any of the extra material per site rules (trust me if this was not a rule I would already be appling to the calc team simply to calc those anime only feats and get them JJK upgrades)

We don't know why he isn't 100% sure. He could've also been talking about if Mahoraga was activated back then, and it could've had a different power level, hence he's not 100% sure of anything happening to make a definitive claim

ALSO the 8f estimate doesn't factor in things like the barrierless domain or "Open ◾" arrows, it's likely a stats statement.

It depends what you mean by "below."

It's different to say "you have power on the level of 10 finger sukuna" compared to "you would beat 10 finger Sukuna." No one from the current manga beats 10 finger Sukuna in a fight, but they are faster and stronger

This isn't true, Gege has been involved of ALL aspects of the anime from th very beginning with explicit oversite. Tertiary canon means no oversite by the original author. So I'm not sure how you'd conclude it's teritary canon, or be comfortable in making the claim he has no supervision over the project, as all evidence points towards the complete opposite.

The team has extensive communication with Shueisha and Gege

The team wanted to remain faithful to the original and had "alot of discussions closely discussing details" with gege and Shueisha. [2]

MAPPA CEO directly confirming Gege's oversite/direct involvement with Seasons 1/2 and the movie.

Appreciation for Gege's involvement in the process of creating the anime

Anime only scenes are created with Gege's approval [2] [3]

Gege themselves talking about their involvement

Gege even being involved with commenting on the direction of the music

Not quite sure how this signals tertiary canon.
