Honkai: Star Rail CRT (Part 2) – Scepter Downgrade & Eidolon Ability Removal

Hello everyone. Just like in my previous CRT, I'd like to address a few issues regarding Honkai: Star Rail profiles. This thread will mainly focus on a downgrade related to the Scepter calculation, along with a small ability removal.

1. Downgrade – The Scepter Calculation

I'll begin with the downgrade since it is the more substantial topic.

The issue concerns the calculation that assumes the Scepter destroyed an entire galaxy within a microsecond (or nanosecond). Before discussing the feat itself, however, we first need to understand HoYoverse's terminology.

HoYoverse's Terminology

In Chinese, HoYoverse frequently uses the term 星系 when referring to galaxies. While the English localization sometimes translates it as "star system".

Some examples:
Kafka
«"Somewhere on a remote spiral arm of the Asdana system, in a dream shrouded by memoria, or perhaps... just another stop along the journey."»
Chinese:

Notice the use of 星系, while the sentence explicitly mentions a spiral arm—something that only galaxies possess.

---

Glamoth Relic
«"Countless silver mechas... sailed to the outer edges of the galaxy..."»
Chinese:
Again, the Chinese uses 星系.

---

The Virpora System is another example. It is visually depicted as a galaxy, yet the English localization calls it a "star system" despite the Chinese once again using 星系.

There are numerous additional examples throughout the game where 星系 is used in contexts referring to galaxies. This is also reflected on the Chinese wiki (BWiki), for anyone interested in verifying it.

---

The Actual Problem

The Scepter scan does not use 星系.

Instead, it uses 恒星系, which is an different term.

Chinese:

Unlike 星系, 恒星系 is generally used as the standard Chinese term for a stellar system rather than a galaxy, at least in common/popular usage.

Since someone might argue that 恒星系 can occasionally refer to galaxies depending on context. Even if that interpretation were theoretically possible, HoYoverse's own terminology distinguishes these terms.

To demonstrate this, we also need to define another recurring term: 星团 ("star cluster").

---

Example 1

At first glance, there's already an obvious problem if "star system" were interpreted as a galaxy.
A galaxy existing inside a star cluster makes no sense in this context.

The Chinese text reads:
Here we can clearly see:
  • 星团 = Star Cluster
  • 恒星系 = Star System
This is exactly the same term used in the Scepter statement.

---

Example 2

Chinese:
Once again:

- 星团 = Star Cluster
- 恒星系 = Star System

---

Example 3

Perhaps the clearest example.

Chinese:

This passage explicitly states that the 恒星系 contains terrestrial planets.

Galaxies do not "contain terrestrial planets" in this manner. This is clearly describing a stellar system composed of a star and its orbiting planets.

Again, HoYoverse distinguishes:

- 星团 → Star Cluster
- 恒星系 → Stellar System
- 星系 → Galaxy/Stellar system

---

OBS:
The Chinese BWIKI groups 星系 and 恒星系 together for editorial convenience, explicitly stating that it does 'not make a special distinction' (不做特别的区分) when cataloging locations. However, it still preserves HoYoverse's original terminology throughout the entries, listing 恒星系 (stellar systems) and 星系 separately rather than treating them as interchangeable terms.

---

Conclusion

I believe the evidence overwhelmingly supports that the Scepter statement refers to the destruction of an entire stellar system, not an entire galaxy. As a result, every profile currently scaling to this calculation—whether for Attack Potency or Speed—should instead scale to a new calculation based on the destruction of a stellar system.

2. Ability Removal – Probability Manipulation (Eidolons)

This section is considerably shorter.

At the moment, every Honkai: Star Rail character possesses passive Probability Manipulation due to Eidolons.

The description reads:

The primary issue is that this appears to be descriptive, not causal.

The text does not state that the character manipulates probabilities.

It is comparable to saying:

«"People are born and eventually die."»

This sentence describes a process. It does not imply that people control birth or death themselves.

A possible counterargument is:

«"As people embark on a set path..."»
Therefore, the collapse is supposedly caused by the character.

However, there is an important distinction between:
  • Being the condition under which a phenomenon occurs.
  • Possessing the ability to actively manipulate that phenomenon.
The description only establishes the former.

Furthermore, some supporters of the verse interpret Eidolons as memories. If Eidolons are memories, it becomes even more difficult to justify Probability Manipulation, as there is no demonstrated mechanism connecting memories to the manipulation of probability.

The description can just as reasonably be interpreted as:

«"When someone commits to a Path, their possibilities cease remaining open and eventually converge into a single identity."»

Once again, the text simply describes a phenomenon that occurs after a person "chooses" a Path. At no point does it state that the character consciously or passively manipulates probability itself.

---

That's all for this CRT.

Furthermore, please check the part regarding the removal of the note claiming that star systems in the verse begin at 10,000 light-years.

we should also have a staff thread to establish a discussion rule about the star system shit. its such a tired subject atp

delete this shit 😭😭😭also theres a staff thread for evaluating eidolons and stuff.
It doesn't really matter. Whether the Eidolons are canon or not doesn't change my point—I'm referring to an ability derived from the description in the text itself.

2- Good to know. How can I get permission to comment?

I am sure Cas will make a comment on this eventually but I'll just add that this is wrong and multiple dictionaries show that it means galaxy
Unlike 星系, 恒星系 is the standard Chinese term for a stellar system (solar system) rather than a galaxy.
For reference: 1 2 3. Keep in mind, 恒星系 might also be abbreviated as 星系

You're the one who did the calculation, right? If you have the time to recalculate it, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your help!
So i gotta ask is that kanji or pinyin?
I think it's Hanzi. Pinyin is the romanization of Chinese pronunciation, if I'm not mistaken. Idk man

As I mentioned in the OP, I do think "恒星系" can, by extension, refer to a galaxy. However, since it can also mean a star system, we need to look at how Hoyoverse actually uses the term in practice. The examples I included in the OP are the only ones I've been able to find so far. Also:
1- 恒星系
2- 恒星系
3- 恒星系

Furthermore, if you search for the term "恒星系" on Bilibili, you'll find that most of the results are about star systems, solar systems, and stars/planets. There are some results referring to galaxies, but they appear much less frequently.

This seems reasonable but i will wait for the counter arguments

yes...? wikipedia has it listed as galaxy as well? i am also not sure what the other articles are supposed to mean. you found some of them use that word in this context. okay. cool. i am sure i can find others using it as a galaxy.
Your only argument is that the term 恒星系 can also mean "galaxy"?
I already say that point in the OP and even provided examples from the game's own text.
Or are you going to argue that there's a galaxy contained inside a star cluster? Bruh

Does this help?
This is for self-coronation. The crt only affects pre-that irontomb.

Well to say that 恒星系 is consistently used for star systems, is not true though overall. For example here, 恒星系 is translated to galaxy in English. In fact in this dialogue this happens three times. If you read this, it says that 星系 is an abbrevation of the full word. In fact, a "stellar system" in astronomy can mean a system consisting of stars bound by gravity. A galaxy is in fact a gigantic stellar system. https://astro-dic.jp/stellar-system/ For example, the Japanese astronomy dictionary entry for 恒星系 (same characters) defines it as a gravitational system of stars and explicitly says it can include things ranging from star clusters to galaxies.

Yes, there is overlap. That cannot be doubted and I am not sure what the best way to approach this issue is as it happens with every language the game is translated into. Take Asdana for example. French has it as "la galaxie" and Spanish as "sistema estelar". Indonesian as galaxy, german and english as star system. Yet as you yourself said, it has a spiral arm.

In my opinion, this should remain as is as. Pre-Coronation Irontomb can scale to Multi-Galaxy anyway through him affecting neighboring galaxies with his virus so it's fairly consistent. Other Emanators already have Galaxy or Multi-Galaxy feats as well. So it's consistent x2.

As I said, the term can encompass both cases. I'm not going to keep repeating the same point over and over.
For example, the Japanese astronomy dictionary entry for 恒星系 (same characters) defines it as a gravitational system of stars and explicitly says it can include things ranging from star clusters to galaxies.
These systems are located within a star cluster, so how exactly would you expect the term 恒星系 to refer to either a star cluster or a galaxy in this context?

This calculation doesn't only affect AP; it also affects Speed. Anyway, I've already explained why I don't think it's valid. If there are other scans that support the tier, then that's fine—they can still remain in their current tier as long as they aren't relying on this specific calculation.

This seems reasonable but i will wait for the counter arguments
@Nighting4l33yes is arguing translations I guess while waiting for @Voidnether to give his thoughts

But there are like other routes this can go

It's currently accepted that Scepter δ-me13 is vastly superior to all other scepters which can destroy half of the 2-A Universe due to Scepter δ-me13 being the original Neuron of Nous.

(As the Scepter formerly used as a Celestial-Body Neuron of Nous,[3][2][8][32] Scepter δ-me13 surpasses the worthy Scepters[42] that empowered Rubert II to destroy half of the UniverseImaginary Tree with a single thought.[104

So here the profiles that would be affected would just scale to this feat instead

Another route it can go is if the calc is valid for Scepter δ-me13 specifically because its stated Scepter δ-me13 can affect 5 entire galaxies

Pardon?
This is our sentence. I am not sure what you mean here. There's no relevant context. It's just a statement.

The Speed is irrelevant as well since it can be chainscaled by the Express anyway as well.

If the characters have other scans that support their respective tiers, then they can simply switch to those. The calculation is a separate matter and should be removed regardless. Also, as I mentioned, the calculation affects Speed as well, not just AP.

"Destroying a galaxy in a microsecond" would likely result in more than just five galaxies being affected during a conflict.
Knowing that this scan is relevant for both situations (Galaxy and Star System interpretations of the Emperor's Sword), we should simply use what the game actually states in the scan regarding the Emperor's Sword.

Ok, since it's irrelevant, let's just remove it. You can do the Chainscaling later.

Ok but this route is the replacement idea for if the calc is actually poofed

Why would the blast of destroying a galaxy result more than five galaxies being affected. Calc assumes the destruction of like a single galaxy involved

Either way it’s just evidence that the original scepter of Nous does have the capabilities of affecting multiple galaxies. You’re only talking about the Emperor sword, an unworthy scepter that is stated to being a mere poor imitation of Nous.

What I’m saying is that there’s a route you could go where it doesn’t apply to the Emperor’s sword but it applies to the original scepter of Nous/Irontomb

Do you have thoughts on these routes

we should simply use what the game actually states in the scan regarding the Emperor's Sword.
Also btw, why prioritize one over the other. The official hoyo videos are as canon as in game scans. The difference is the video shows more than the one sole scan/line from the occurrence domain with it showing a scepter can affect 5 galaxies and not just a solar system.

If the scan states that it's a solar system being destroyed in a microsecond, then that's what the calculation should be based on. The verse's scaling page states that the 3-B characters scale above this calculation, and the calculation provides specific AP and Speed values. However, those values are based on a premise that is not supported by the actual scan, so the resulting scaling is unreliable.
? Explain your point clearly please.
Every time Hoyoverse mentions the term 恒星系, it appears alongside a mention of a Star Cluster, which indicates a clear hierarchy between the two.
If you are arguing that 恒星系 can also be used to mean both a galaxy and a star cluster, despite Hoyoverse using different terms for these concepts in other contexts, then the burden of proof is on you to demonstrate that.
The point is simple: whenever 恒星系 is used, it explicitly refers to a star system—a structure smaller than a star cluster. So why would Hoyoverse suddenly use the same term in the Scepter scan to refer to a star cluster or even a galaxy?
This is ultimately a matter of consistency in how the terminology is used.

Looks great i agree with all of it. Though for what tiers they should be after the changes, I'll have to wait for the supporters

No, lol. I don't even know how the entire galaxy and star system stuff is supposed to debunk the Scepter calculation, frankly speaking here given if you really read the thread where it was accepted, I literally said star systems vary in size from tens of thousands of lightyears up to millions like Asdana.

This was an accepted thread, which is why things like these are added onto the notes:
Note: Star Systems (星系) is used interchangeably with Galaxies for Leaf Worlds in the Honkai Universe. This is proven as the Viropa Star System is visually shown as being a Galaxy. These Star Systems also range from 10,000 (Part IV) to 100,000, or millions of light-years such as the Asdana Star System. There are also cases where Star Systems such as Genshin Impact's Star System being 93 billion light-years in size exists.

It is also explained that they're used interchangeably ANYWAY, and well for the speed rating. They're staying because even Unsheathed Sword Acheron is capable of doing the same feat, she's capable of slashing Aventurine in which said explosion generated from the slash is shown to spread everywhere across the whole Asdana as stated by Welt.

Now, about the timeframe, I'm pretty sure atleast 1 nanosecond could be justified given what Lygus said, this was also in the calculation where we addressed the microseconds vs nanoseconds issue and yeah speed is generally straightforward in such calculations given you already have the distance and time factor which is also accepted by CGM. If you check the chinese for what Lygus said and Emanators perception speed, it directly said nanosecond too.

Absolutely zero reason to nuke the speed if Emanator such as Acheron would be 63 sextillion times faster than the speed of light anyway if you divide 2 million lightyears by 1 nanosecond, you should be grateful I didn't decide to use Genshin's star system that's 93 billion lightyears because we'd be the fastest MFTL+ on the wiki lmao.

Not really, nothing about this debunks Star Systems varying in size from 10,000 lightyears up to millions and even billions of lightyears in the first place anyway. There's like a reason why HSR's calc don't rely on irl size since galaxies size irl are smaller than star systems in HSR for some reason lol

Btw this thread doesn't really address the fact that Asdana is mentioned as a star system multiple times in the IPC relic (literally just search up Asdana on the HSR wiki) or when Silver Wolf mentioned it as one back in 3.8

The only instance Asdana is mentioned as a galaxy is through Acheron, you might wanna look onto 2.2 and compare those terminologies which is why calc is still usable due to stellar system in HSR being 2 million lightyears for Asdana especially (and the only known size of a star system other than the Welkin Empire, but we're not using that if Scepter Irontomb's capable of affecting 5 star systems which includes Asdana anyway)

Asdana is 2 million lightyears in size whilst being a stellar system anyway atleast in English, since Speed is D / T then just divide them and there you go, 2 million ly divided by 1 nanosecond is precisely 63 sextillion

Asdana is 2 million lightyears in size (diameter) whilst being a stellar system anyway, since Speed is via Inverse Square Law then just divide by 2 to find the radius and there you go, 1 million ly divided by 1 nanosecond is precisely 63 sextillion, 2 million ly is 63 sextillion multiplied by 2 though really
PLEASE ACTUALLY READ THE DISCORD DMS SO I CAN EXPLAIN WHAT THE CRT IS BECAUSE THIS IS THE 5TH YAPPING POST 😭

I find it funny how some supporters seem determined not to read the CRT, and if they do read it, they still don't understand the points being made.
No, lol. This was an accepted thread, which is why things like these are added onto the notes:
The term 恒星系 is used in conjunction with star cluster—so how exactly would a galaxy be inside a star cluster? Lmao.
Not really, nothing about this debunks Star Systems varying in size from 10,000 lightyears up to millions and even billions of lightyears in the first place anyway. There's like a reason why HSR's calc don't rely on irl size since galaxies size irl are smaller than star systems in HSR for some reason lol
By the way, now that you mentioned it, I remembered something I had forgotten for a while regarding the scan claiming that star systems start at 10,000 light-years, as well as the note on the verse page. That interpretation is simply WRONG. THAT'S NOT what the text says.
Grammatically, the sentence is saying that the bounty hunters came from star systems located within approximately 10,000 light-years of distance. It is not saying that star systems themselves are 10,000 light-years in size.

The modifier in the sentence is:
近萬光年內的
which modifies:
星系賞金獵人

Therefore, the sentence means:
"Bounty hunters from star systems within roughly 10,000 light-years."
The 10,000 light-years measurement is describing the location of the star systems where the bounty hunters came from, with Lepismat being the reference point for that distance.

Since we've gotten into the subject...
Therefore, this note on the verse page should be removed, and if any character's tier relies on this interpretation, that scaling should be reconsidered as well.

I haven't checked the other scans mentioning 100,000 light-years or millions of light-years yet. However, if those statements were interpreted using the same logic as this one...
Btw this thread doesn't really address the fact that Asdana is mentioned as a star system multiple times in the IPC relic (literally just search up Asdana on the HSR wiki) or when Silver Wolf mentioned it as one back in 3.8
