The Boys discussion thread

Have you guys seen this? What do you think?
She might have won, not that she would've won. This pretty much just confirms that Queen Maeve can fight with Homelander & is a threat to him, but doesn't mean she wins everytime or that Homelander wouldn't have won

Do you know where this comes from?

Its just on how they make the visual effects, not that these are light speed.

So the new VR game is canon:

"Ricardo Justus: That’s why we chose to create a new playable character. You’re not playing as Butcher or MM—you’re someone new who joins The Boys.

This allowed us to tell a canonical story without interfering with the main events of the show. We also created a new group of Supes, called the Armstrongs, who act as the primary antagonists. That gave us characters we could fully explore and, in some cases, eliminate.

Homelander is still present as a looming threat, but he’s far beyond your power level. There are moments where your only option is to escape him.

We worked very closely with the show’s writers and showrunners to ensure everything felt authentic. They helped shape the story, dialogue, and tone, while we focused on gameplay. It was a collaborative process where"
I'm currently watching a full walkthrough of the game and the protagonist (Lucas) has telekinesis, teleportation and X-ray vision and can easily twist the heads of Vought security agents with his telekinesis. Lucas also got some Temp-V which can transform his hands into blades, but he will have access to more Temp-V later in the game from what I read, so new powers are to come.

The game's main antagonists are the Armstrongs, a family of Supes like the Incredibles or the Fantastic Four.

Lucas seems to be only at Human level, because Butcher told him he had absolutely no chance against the members of The Seven. So far I've only seen one boss fight (against Parkool, the son) and Lucas said he would have lost without the Temp-V.

I was thinking if we could get keys for Homelander's intelligence. He has clearly gotten dumber and far less rational.

Perhaps if there is a major change to his power with the V1 stuff we could make a key for it.

Thank you for giving me the quote. Thank you. See how it mentions X-Ray vison, specially mentioning radiation shielding ? I mean you only use Neutron bomb when talking about radiation not yield.

Stan isn't talking about power, the accurate translation of this quote is "This place is radiation shielded to hide from Homelander's x-ray vision."

Yeah Soldier boy is called a H-Bomb. For his radiation power, not because he is equal to a actual hydrogen bomb.
Wait, what? Edgar clearly talk about the power of Homelander and you interpret that as "he's just talking about his X-ray vision"???

I was thinking if we could get keys for Homelander's intelligence. He has clearly gotten dumber and far less rational.
I think just mentioning that his ability to rationalize is lowering due to insanity is enough.

Sure. Though Idk why, I have a feeling it would just give him the Immortality.

Also, Thomas Goldkin should have two layers of Possession, not just one.

The first layer is when Thomas manages to control multiple people at once, whereas initially he could only possess two at a time.

The second layer is after he has succeeded in controlling Marie.

Homelander and Marie should each have one layer of resistance to Possession then.

Unless I'm mistaken, an ability becomes Layered when it overcomes a resistance. So it just one layer after he controls Marie.

I am still confused what they will do with the Gen V gang. Especially since Marie is a walking plot convience tool.

All the spin offs are already enough of a picture to know that the virus isn't going to be the end of all Supes.

And given the plans for Gen V season 3, the Gen V gang has plot armor, even though I really see not much reason to keep them alive.

I don’t think this makes sense. Multiple keys for intelligence imply that he’s lost his thinking capacity/capabilities which doesn’t seem supported by the story. He hasn’t gotten dumber, just more unstable over time. I think it’d be a better fit for the weakness section, as others have suggested.

Sigh, not again the misinterpretation of the Edgar quote 😭

He quite literally says "Below layers of zinc-reinforced concrete. Safe from Xray vision or anyone with the power of a neutron bomb."

Given the context, this most likely refers to Homelander.
But yeah, is not "The bunker can withstand X, therefore Y scales to X"
He says "The bunker can withstand the power of someone relative in power to X".
So, yeah, Edgar says "Homelander=Neutron Bomb"

(Also, funny thing how MM says that Soldier Boy is "an H-bomb" in S5E2)
Actually looking at the specific wording of that quote it does seem like the latter half is intended to be about Soldier Boy. The use of "or" instead of "and" implies separation of the two subjects. This fits because Homelander of course has x-ray vision and Soldier Boy has many statements being compared to nuclear disasters. I know at this point Soldier Boy was sealed away, but this bunker could have been made when Soldier Boy was active and a threat. The statement makes a lot more sense if you interpret the bunker as being tailor made to counter the two most powerful supes on the planet's associated powers instead of a statement of power for just Homelander. If the intent was to solely refer to Homelander why would you bother seperating the two powers?

This was a weird episode. Some of this shit was straight up Looney Toons. This feels like a Supernatural episode.

On the scaling side it seems radiation can severely weaken Homelander to the point of barely being able to stand up.

Soldier Boy genuinely distraught by something, most likely killing the guy. New Supe added with the ability of causing hysteria and aggression. Shit stats though. Butcher is confirmed stronger than Kimiko even without using his main power. Locked in Hughie is a menace.

So who did the Episode refer to as "The King of Hell" ? Homelander is a obvious choice but it maybe referring to the plant supe with hell being the Fort.

But the highlight of the episode is Butcher and Homelander's interaction (as always).

Yeah it was pretty goofy lmao. But I think it kinda worked, the boys were mainly focused on attacking each others because of aggression-inducing, ah, parasite? Not meant to be strategic thinkers (though to an extent they could still think straight).

S5E4 (41:11)
"It's enriched uranium. They'd stick us Supes in there to see if we could survive an atomic bomb. Now for a normal joe, they'd be dead in minutes, but for you, it's a stomach flu."

Maybe Vought Rising will give us more context on their bond.
Butcher is confirmed stronger than Kimiko even without using his main power.
Was he? I mean, a bit yes, but it didn't look like a huge margin.
Locked in Hughie is a menace.
Oh yeah. Finally more feats to upgrade Hughie (working on a sandbox for updating his profile once Season is done)

Uh, this episode was "though the heavens fall ". King of Hell is episode 6. Next one is One Shots.

This was for me atleast, the weakest episode of the season. Annie meeting her father was entirely pointless because no one was interested in her family drama in the finale season. All Noir theories got nuked, they pranked us.

Other than that we didn't get V1. The plot just keeps going back to square one.

And Homelander isn't even as scary as he used to be. Also why did SB let them go after they had nearly killed him with a Virus ?

Yes!! I was excepting him to be like “Geez pops, you really don’t understand me…” as he casually breaks open the door to continue the search.

Killing that super which may be his brother broke him, he was too emotionally bad to care about them

wtf did i just watch
This was the weirdest most experimental episode I've seen of the boys. Did not even feel like the same show.

Also, yeah, this was literally filler which is crazy because everyone was in the same place at the same time.

Frenchie: Guys be quiet, spay this deer smell. Homelander can hear and smell us!!

A minute later

Chaos fighting, Homelander does indeed not hear them.

I doubt it. They ain't got the budget for allat.

I would have switched up the villain though. A Bear on V1. The boys arrive into the fort, find no V1, the bear hard presses them.

Then Soldier boy and Homelander show up, Kimiko uses herself as bait, turning the Bear's attention to Homelander.

And that would lead to Homelander proving his dominance as then strongest, not just among human but The Strongest Creature on Earth.

I think they're setting up Homelander to survive a nuclear bomb imo especially with the newest episode and him toughening out the radiation effects thats suppose to simulate radiation of a nuke
Unless its point blank with it hugging him ISL gonna nuke that down tho anyways so we shall see

Bro tryna debunk a feat that didnt even happen yet 😭💔💔
Weird ass take? Just pointing out the obvious that unless bro is literally hugging it we gotta take into account ISL...ya know as you properly are supposed to

We ain't getting a nuke scene come on guys, that's a pipe dream. Not only is Homelander in a major city which means no one can drop a nuke on him, I highly doubt they will suddenly increase the scale so much.

I mean the best we got is Soldier boy destroying a building and most of it was offscreen.

If it happens it happens if it doesnt it doesnt.

This might be a good radiation resistance feat tho (resistance isnt being entirely immune. Homelander was a bit ****** but he toughened it out and quickly recovered after) if it's mean to simulate the radiation of a nuclear bomb tho. Unless whats done is actually worse immediate showings than whats possible irl idk

I like how Ryan just got up and left the episode near the beginning. He is likely either getting killed off or joining the Gen V squad by the end of S5 (iirc Ryan and Zoe should be close to Annabeth's age too).

Wasn't a fan of Starlight's subplot, could've been an interesting multi-episode narrative of Annie having a long lost younger brother that's been indoctrinated by HLs propaganda with possible parallels to Butcher and Kimiko (who both lost their younger brothers) but ofc we get a rushed family plot point that's is "resolved" in the same episode it was introduced in and will very likely not be touched upon again (also would've been better if was started in S4).

Overall the weakest episode this season with very little progress with the main overarching story outside another V1 user possibly being still alive (interesting how episode 4 of the current season of Invincible was also considered weak and filler'ish, Amazon shenanigans perhaps?).

Yeah ngl this episode really didn't live up to the expectation. We're halfway through the final season and we're getting filler episodes that do little to nothing?

Feels like most of the episode could have been realistically wrapped up in the first 20-30 minutes max if they really wanted to.

It wasn't BAD but it was a lot weaker than anything before this in s5
