Marvel Rivals Discussion Thread

**** hulk's jump, ******* dumbest thing I ever saw. Arrow arc says you're going to make it, NOPE, ******* lie.

I assume Jean would get a "up to Low 2-C via Phoenix Force" rating thanks to this exchange;

Phoenix Force: You have the power to reshape this reality to your whims.
Scarlet Witch: My magic is a far cry from the fury of the Phoenix.
Phoenix Force:
Chaos and creation have always gone hand-in-hand.
Scarlet Witch: Then maybe that's how you and I should go into this battle as well.

This seems to state that Phoenix Force > Wanda's Magic (which is Low 2-C)

I don’t think PF is fully stronger than Chaos Magic. The theme of the season, with Yin Yang symbols and them granting each other powers seem to suggest that they are equals. I would think Jean can just control her powers better.

So uh, bad news. The Marvel Rivals Infinity comics are definitely not canon to the game. After reading through the comics and looking at the serials provided in the game the events of the hellfire gala attack are vastly different from one another. As such all the abilities and scaling given to characters based on these comics need to be removed.

Are the profiles still in progress ever going to be finished or should I do 'em?
Still planning on making the MK, but I'm still doing the comics version and I got sick, like extremely sick. So he's in temporary jail.

Ideally the profiles should be reworked with in-game lore scaling instead of using game mechanics to justify everyone being equal but I cant be bothered to read all that.
Tbf, unlike some other online multiplayer games, the battles we see in gameplay are actually explained as happening in-lore, with them being the result of all the multiverse shenanigans and whatnot.

Yes, but I don't think that absolutely all the playable characters fought in these battles lorewise.

Well, it’s still too game mechanic-y tbh.

Though I fear that without comics what are we left with? Cinematics and lore pages? Damn.

I mean, probably not the main ones, but certainly some variants of them from other universes, the real issue is that we don’t know who they canonically fight against and how

I mean, there is quite the fuckton of lore pages and voice lines to go off of, so I don’t think it’d be too hard to figure some of this stuff out, but it will be tedious as all hell to sort through

Well for starters Scarlet witch, Jean, and Symbiote Hela are all in a tier of their own. Same goes for Knull.

Completely off topic, but how do you put a quote below your profile like you did with this one (You imagined it was you? Oh. You did. You did. We all wish it was us. That's why we believe)?

The gameplay with everyone fighting each other is in-game lore though

The plot of the game is that there are battles going on all over reality. They're all roughly equal, even in lore

Is there a single mention of a fight between groups of heroes in the game's lore? Because all the gallery cards and profiles I've read so far just have the heroes fighting together against other groups of villains and their armies (Dracula and his vampires in season 1, Ultron and its androids in season 2, Knull and his symbiotes in season 3).

Signature option when you click on your profile in top right.

I think some heroes, maybe Sue, mention how in some worlds the people they fight against are some of their closest allies.

EDIT: Here.

  • Invisible Woman: I need you to promise me you'll show some restraint out there, Johnny.
  • Human Torch: What's the problem, sis? Afraid to turn up the heat?
  • Invisible Woman: Not at all. But in most realities, these are some of our closest allies.
  • Human Torch: Fair point. Guess I'll set my flames to "bake" instead of "broil"…

I'm iffy about this. The story of the playable characters so far does not say that they faced other groups of heroes and there is no reason to believe that this is the case in the 3 seasons that we had (because the heroes were busy facing vampires, androids and symbiotes).

Unless the Susan and Johnny in this interaction come from another timeline unknown to us for the moment and they are facing other heroes from another timeline also unknown (that's the only explanation I have).

Well, we already consider their conversations as canonical. And victory/losing screens too, which showcase this rivalry, like MK vs FF on vampire map.
