Marvel Rivals Discussion Thread

I think Ghost Rider's design would have to be altered pretty heavily, given China's rules on skulls in media.

I think 'The Hood' got leaked a while back though, who is apparently an alt. Ghost Rider design?

I mean… Punisher has a scull. Maybe they’ll figure it out.
 
Hopped on the actual game after a lil break, saw the Arako map scenes, do Groot and Ultron have 5-B reality warping???
 
She also mentions burning "the skies", which is High 6-A if we're being literal

Also I cannot find it, but I swear I just saw a map intro play where Ultron warps all of Mars into a giant Ultron head

What are all the resistances?

Fire from Johnny/Jean (Johnny's flames can melt steel)

Ice from Luna (She freezes people solid)

Mind from Emma (She can attack the mind directly)

guys is it okay if i feel doubtful about this like i’m lowkey not sure abt the soul resistance thing anymore bc if it’s from taking direct hits to their soul from strange n other ppl, wouldn’t that be like non-physical interaction instead of controlling the soul?? and if they can still get hit like doesn’t that basically mean they’re not resisting that either

i’m like slow and none of this is clicking for me so just tell me if i’m missing something bc that’s literally what the justification for that resistance says on the profiles

Electricity from Thor/Storm (duh)

Also, Johnny was stated to have clones that burn brighter than the sun in his character bio and I’m 90% sure there’s a line about Jean being superior to him

Oh, and Luna is capable of completely freezing both of them, and said move is literally called absolute zero, so… yeah

Yeah well it makes sense for strange to have it as soul manip since he knocks rhe souls out of the body but I do agree the resistance should either be removed or reworded

They do have non-physical interaction from it, but you do raise a good point. From what I've seen, the wiki treats souls as inherently more fragile than a character's body, so being able to survive your soul getting beaten up is considered a form of Soul Resistance. It's comparable to being able to survive a nasty hit to the heart or something

I think this should vary verse to verse though. The souls of the Rivals cast don't seem to be super fragile or anything, but then again, there's only one attack to go off of. If anything, this DOES mean that their souls have the same durability as their physical body though

Working on his profile, so here's what I've found about the temperature that Johnny burns at

So, there are a few times where both the game and Johnny himself compare his heat to that of a star;
  • Explode with cosmic fire to deal damage to enemies within range.
  • Teenager Johnny Storm joined his sister on the crew of an experimental space mission in hopes of visiting the stars. Instead, he became one, gaining power and popularity as a member of the world famous Fantastic Four. Able to generate scorching flames, Johnny is the hottest hero in town - the Human Torch. Since darkness fell on New York City, Johnny has been busy burning Dracula's legions with flames brighter that the sun.
  • "I'm bright like a star!"
  • He could ignite Ororo's hurricanes, turning them into firey tempests with the power of a solar storm.
So, if any of these can be literal, there we go.

But if not, we have...
  • Vampires couldn’t bite you when you were made of superheated plasma.
  • He focused and felt his temperature get hotter. Then hotter still. Then so hot that the subway tracks and the concrete pillars inside the ruined station started to buckle. “Now, Ben!” he shouted again.
    And Johnny Storm went nova.
    The vast mass of the stone monster blocked most of the nova blast from surfing upward and out onto the street. The blast wave radiated downward into the tunnel carved by the stone Deviant on its way up from the deep caves where it originated, melting stone along with the reinforced concrete of the subway tunnel.
  • "I should probably melt this down before we go…" - About the giant Hydra robot
  • "Huh. Guess that turret can't fire if it's molten metal… Melted your bullets, Frank. Not sorry for a second."
  • Human Torch: Get ready to watch me burn up the battlefield, robo-dude!
  • Ultron: If only that Hammond android were here instead of his fleshy inferior.
  • Human Torch: Haha, funny coming from the guy I could melt into slag in seconds!
And the Jean interaction is;
  • Phoenix Force: You and I burn with a cosmic fury few mortals could ever hope to contain.
  • Human Torch: And we both look pretty hot doing it! But I bet you can't go full supernova!
  • Phoenix Force: My flames have reduced entire worlds to ash.
  • Human Torch: Oh... how about we just call it a tie?
So, maaaaybe star temp. is literal? If not, he can still melt stone and steel. And Jean's flames are even hotter

Adding onto this, it is stated here that his supernova form is “essentially a mini-sun” so, I think it’s safe to say the “bright like a star” stuff is meant to be literal, or at least for when he goes supernova.
 
Would Emma attacking their consciousness grant Resistance to Mind Manip, or would that be similar to the Soul Resistance issue?
