Sonic General Discussion Zone Act 1: New Frontiers

I might return to the possibility of Low 4-C in the future. Like, given how the gap between MvC's High 5-A and Low 4-C is and the insane degrees of upscaling, I still wanna figure out where I can place that crossing line. I just wasn't brave enough to tackle it in that revision

THAT BEING SAID, if anyone has some suggestions for where that tier change may be applicable in my currently accepted scaling chain....let me know... 😳

Like, how the guy can be so wrong about the characters he writes lmao
Quite simple
Why is the Insta-Shield considered part of the Spin Dash? Is it because it can be combined with the Flame Shield to produce the Fireball Spin Dash?
That's indeed curious. That move wasn't included in the page initially, wonder when it got added.
Ayo Cino, it's been awhile👋!
Shake is truly the GOAT.
Also Shake

We all know what happens to Shake when that video came out in 2007.

(They also deal less damage the lower in HP their opponent is, somehow.)

I don't recall this being acknowledged as anything but a game mechanic, I think.
I am unfamiliar with this mechanic, but I'm curious since this IS a fighting game

What does it let you do?

So in STF, there's a passive mechanic where the HP ratio between players affects damage output. The less health a player has in comparison to the other player, the more damage the lower HP player will do. This works vise versa too, so if you have notably more HP than your opponent, you will do less damage.

This person likes StF and very quickly explains it here.

There's a fan version of the game, I think, and they have the mechanic disabled there I believe!

The devs really said "the game patches your character while you win" huh 😭 😭

Yeah, this seems like flatout game mechanics, especially since AFAIK there's no like, actual lore explanation for this like some other abilities

I'm thankful that a fighting game gave us Oblivion level-scaling before Daggerfall had even released

Time corrects itself to the player I guess
When the game sabotages your success

Obviously I get what they were going for with balance but I can’t begin to imagine how much that affects things gameplay meta wise. Kinda intriguing

It's really cool to think about, personally. I'm not super informed on the competitive scene, but I imagine disabling the mechanic changes how some approach the end of each round. I think each round lasts 30 seconds in StF, so I assume that not having catch-up damage affects the speed too.

I'm curious how the whole "Sonic co become Justice League" will play out. It feels, like, out of character for some of them to take the identity of another, but I'm interested if Silver will just actually get a Green Lantern ring.

Is Chaos Control 6-D, 6-D 1 layer or 6-D 2 layers??? Adventure Shadow has it at 6-D, Adventure Sonic with a Chaos Emerald has it at 6-D and 1 layer, yet Evolved Shadow's resistance has it at 6-D and 2 layers.

Also, if the Super Peel-Out were to be considered part of the Spin Dash, would it be Advanced or Unique?

Why would that count as SpinDash/Attack instead of a seperate speedy technique, when they don't take the ball shape when performing that move?
I've found lotsa stuff out there saying the Super Peel-Out is a standing variation of the Spin Dash. This would extend to the Strike Dash, which the Origins Plus manual names it the "Super Spin Dash", which other sources consider it part of the Super Peel-Out. There's also less significative similarities like the peel out making the same noise as the usual spindash in Origins cutscenes

Hello and good day to all, a while ago i made a sonic vs sponge thread, and i find it to be a little outdated since it had all of modern sonic's abilities compiled with adventure sonic. Would it be reasonable for me to remake the same battle but with only adv sonic? Thank you!

Probably, I believe? In his 4-A key, he has just enough skill via Emerl scaling that it would at least help him face SpongeBob's toony/annoying/probability(?)-altering nature (less with that last one, moreso with the first 2).

Hey guys, isn't the Spin Dash amp kind of contradictory? I can think of like 2 instances, like Sonic being able to react to Robo-Sonic's spin dash in close combat and being able to intercept his own spindashes in Sonic Labyrinth, even though it's supposed to blitz his own reactions

Sonic can see Robo-Sonic winding up the attack, to which all he needs to do is jump because Robo-Sonic isn't using a complicated attack pattern.

Sonic's speed was already nerfed hard in Labyrinth. Bro was like Superhuman at BEST in the game I'm pretty sure, more likely Average Human lmao

Yeah, alright

Actually im pretty sure he got nerfed to low relativistic, sub-rel+ at worst. There's laser stuff in the final boss. (gives 3.9c results when using spindash)

Though the Spin Dash isn't nerfed. We give it resistance to stats reduction because of Sonic saying that the boots it wouldn't slow it down

Oh wow, that I did not know.

Fair enough, that I forgot

Might be reading way too much into it, but someone asked Chris if the manga is going to be canon, he didn't answer directly, but said that canon material is thought to be localized so everyone in the world can see. I think the implication is if there isn't any plans to localize something, then that thing isn't canon (or at least, likely not canon).

He also said the Isekai stories aren't canon

Otherworld Comedy is blatantly canon since its outfits are used in games, so I think Chris didn't understand the question.
