Rule Violation Reports (New forum)

On this thread

@BlackDarkness679 is being quite rude to Glassman for disagreeing with something he posted. Including calling people "Clowns." And a specific post removed by Lephyr was especially uncalled for. And ignoring warnings isn't really helping his case either.
Also that comment + the current vote count is suggesting he's just gonna not count the vote?

Not sure if any explicit rule breaking has happened but this thread cant possibly lead to any good and just tonight has gotten to 5 almost 6 pages and is just going to lead to issues.

This user is still around, and furthermore have not only lingered for awhile but have been kinda escalating (And like, blatantly seem to think staff are against them, at least on the FC/OC side of things but we can't really ban them only from that forum). They did also break a rule overtly in the form of spamming a bunch of different threads here.

Wait really? This thread's meant to handle misbehaviour in threads on those other parts of the forum too?

My bad for not realising that.

Anyway uhh, from what I've seen I think things would be fine with the warning already given for their "assholes" comment, unless they continue making further demeaning comments.

I don't know why this thread wouldn't be shared, since all wikis are based in this same forum, which exists under whatever the vsbw forum rules are. And punishments seemingly transfer across each forum division. Like bans, warnings, etc.

Probably more efficient this way, anyways.

Yeah, I kinda assumed that FC/OC and JBW staff would've been able to apply independent bans to their own subsections, based on their own rules. But I could easily see that not being true.

Minor thing here, @EmbalmerMaster9000 recently made this calc blog which includes a screenshot of a person asking for WoG, and that person seems to be Embalmer.
I would not consider this a WOG statement or whatever like asking if Dante can fart away 190213213 universes after snorting 1 line of crack, this is simply asking how a game mechanic works.
This comment seems to be arguing that this conduct doesn't violate this portion of our Site Rules
Do not pester or harass the authors of various works on social media about versus debating or character statistics. They are often bombarded by numerous questions from fans, and thus are rarely interested in giving a serious response. In addition, the statements they give to appease users are often contradictory to the feats in the stories of the works they have written. Thus, it is frowned upon to bother them over these topics.
I get how this can seem a bit of a blurred line, but I think we should put asking a game's creator for a list of velocities characters' abilities launch objects at, and whether certain factors change these velocities, as something we should not pester a creator about.

In line with this, I think Embalmer should be warned.

Yes, this thread is for misbehaviour in our forum as a whole. It would be too difficult for the much more limited resources of the staff members of our partner wikis to handle it by themselves otherwise. 🙏

Only people with more general admin rights can apply bans from our forum as a whole. I think that without that option available, only discussion thread bans can be applied, not sub-forum bans. Or at least those were the XenForo settings we have had to work with as well as possible. 🙏

Anyway, should we apply a temporary ban and final warning to the member in question? It is mostly up to the FC/OC staff to decide mind you. 🙏

I think that seems reasonable. 🙏

I'm hesitant but I'll sign off on a warning. I think it treads too close to the rule for comfort, although as you say, I think he was within justifiable range of it. It's not equivalent to asking more direct questions.

I think what they're doing is pretty egregiously pushy and runs in violation of our rules, at least, although FC/OC has their own. Given FC/OC's staff ostensible agreement that action should be taken, I'd lean in favor of a short ban to cool off over a warning, as they were in communication with many people (staff included) telling them to take it easy, which they obviously didn't do. If a short ban doesn't work, then. Unfortunate, I suppose. One to two weeks seems appropriate.

Two weeks is fine, I'm pretty much of the opinion they need to just relax a little and spend some time away from the internet in general for a bit. They're pretty stressed out by VSBW forum, which relatively isn't the most important.

Okay. What should we say in their ban reason instruction message? 🙏

Yes that's me, not going to sugarcoat it. I was asking how a game mechanic worked so I didn't have to bother with manually grinding out money in-game to get scans of the player getting launched around by different attacks. I literally linked a video shortly after demonstrating this very thing in-game (how poop hammer doesn't influence the knockback of attacks). I only thought that WoG specifically applied to asking about feats like "can they move at the speed of light" or "can they destroy a planet". I can remove that from the blog and just trudge through getting the scans and nothing would really change. Thank you for pointing that out though, I will avoid directly contacting coders to get specific values.

I don't think what you did was morally wrong, to be clear. But I do think it should probably be avoided, so a warning is sufficient to establish that as the case. As Ant said, one appreciates you being reasonable.

One day ban seems heavy but I guess it suits us to get him to knock it off. If he continues afterward we'll have to talk actual punishment.

After some private discussion among high-level staff, it has been decided that @Astral_Trinity439's translations should not be used as evidence in threads, unless they have been thoroughly and explicitly confirmed by translation helpers. This is due to there being issues with his translations in the past (i.e. this translation adding the word "void"), his knowledge of Japanese not being particularly good (calling a Chinese website Japanese, and using that to justify a certain translation), and him frequently including machine translations in his threads (i.e. here, here, and here), albeit typically alongside ones from other sources, such as him grabbing definitions from dictionaries (although this does make me wonder how Astral gets his understanding of the relevant grammar).

Since this is a big thing to monitor, help would be appreciated in making sure that threads involving his translations (i.e. not ones that can be traced back to a fan translation or official translation group), such as this one, aren't passed without this oversight; without that vetting, such scans should not be treated as evidence due to their unreliability.
