What an amazing episode. I almost cried when Nemuri died, and I have seen that fight millions of times. I really liked the inclusion of Mayuri activating his device used to counter Pernida, in the manga it was very ambiguous what happened.

Ashisogi Jizō
The Zanpakutō of Kurotsuchi Mayuri, captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13. When in Shikai, a baby's face appears at the base of the blade, and the tip transforms into three twisted blades, with the ability to inject poison that paralyzes the limbs of the opponent. Its release command is "Claw Out". Its Bankai is "Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō". It transforms into a gigantic caterpillar-like baby with the ability to spread toxic mist over a radius of 100 meters. It can also crush enemies with its massive body. The modified Bankai is "Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō: Matai Fukuin Shōtai". It is a variant of Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō and has the ability to give birth to a new Ashisogi Jizō with the characteristics of responding to enemies based on information sent by Mayuri during battle.

The name of the Vice-Captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei 13, Kurotsuchi Nemu, in the "Nemuri Project". The "Nemuri Project" refers to a plan by the 12th Division Captain, Kurotsuchi Mayuri, to create a new soul from nothing, by perfecting his artificial body and artificial soul technology, essentially producing an artificial Shinigami. As indicated by the name, Nemuri No. 7 is the seventh experimental body; and all previous six experimental bodies died during their growth process due to cell division stopping as far as two years of development.
