My reaction to Guts VS Ditrimi at 5/10:

i have it at 2

Hmm, added some more things I oversighted but is more or less accurate to my depiction of the comparison chart I made last week Glad to see my Goatku didn't get completely washed in the comparison chart and held his fair share of distanctive advantages of his own. Also Dragon Ball got buffed in speed LFG!
Canon DB lol
It makes most there MU even more of a stomp lol
"Goku would beat almost any other version of Superman's ass"
No he fuсking wouldn't 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭
Tbf he would
Just not the current one lol and the Uber ones

Ultra didn't write the episode. It was all Ben. Ultra just did an insane amount of work (every single Superman appearance is an insane feat people aren't talking about) so he's credited as Lore Consultant.
Speaking of lore, how much researchers usually buy into levels of power via just lore, like dark souls and elder scrolls for any series in general?

Depends on context really. We're typically not ones to go "every statement and every lore bit counts" but if understanding a series requires learning a lot of lore like with Dark Souls or Elder Scrolls, we take it more seriously. JJK is strangely another good example of this since Gege always downplays his own characters but in the same breath makes data statements contradicting the fact.

So answer, yes if it makes sense. Otherwise there needs to be complimentary evidence like with anything else.

That wasn't what I wanted.

And yet, it hit so many notes I didn't know I needed.

It was not a modern GvS1, it was not busting things out for a marathon of a battle animation. It wasn't an analysis that delves and digs deep to give a ridiculous amount of detail.

But it was fun. Goku and Superman were fun. They were fun with each other. They made this fight feel like a pair of friends enjoying themselves rather than anything malicious.

Good lines and references, the tears in reality to get to show us other versions of the fight was an unexpected surprise, the animation had my attention the whole time.

And that final speech...That Powerscaling and a love for a character and a story don't need to devalue one another. It's something of a criticism I've heard thrown at Battleboarding and Vs. Debating as a whole, and I'm glad Death Battle got to stand up infront of their very public audience and say: "Guys...It's just fun."

Maybe your character has a ridiculous feat that's a huge outlier in their verse. Everyone's Wall Level and suddenly they're busting out a multi-universal destruction because "Writers Can't Do Math", and maybe you think that's hype? Or maybe you think that's stupid as hell. Either way, it's nice to remove the stats and numbers from the character, to still love the context and not let the debate ruin that. To do it, and only do it, because you like it. You enjoy it. Because it's fun.

That feeling that I'm just not going to have any fun...
I was wrong. This was fun. I had fun. And I'm really happy about that.

Great episode, will be making it part of my rewatch playlist.

So if a character has lore saying he can destroy a universe, it needs some visual stuff too or can a possibility can be given from just that alone, assuming its not just a single instance of such power told of them

Anyway, I was able to watch Goku vs Superman live, and it genuinely is probably my favorite episode of DEATH BATTLE of all time! I loved how Clark and Goku are portrayed as friends, the animation was incredible, the analysis was pretty good overall, the characterization was on-point, the voice acting was pretty good, and I loved some of the extra touches like Wiz having an existential crisis over powerscaling! It was a lot of fun, and it took me back to when I was a kid and discovered DEATH BATTLE and this hobby as a result. It just felt so good! It's easily a 10/10.

I was so pleased Mach 3 JJK wasn't even mentioned in Makima vs Gojo 🙃

Something like that. But how I'd treat Lore statements isn't necessarily how Liam or Ultra would treat it. But generally around that. And we still need to vet it with Ben and everyone else. Research doesn't start and end with us sending over a sheet and saying "X wins." Others can go "no they don't" or "no that's wrong" and we go from there.

Was there episodes where in the end one of you didnt agree with it even if the rest did on who wins? Given each of you have different takes on a matter for a verse/character in question

Not recently. I guess the last time I felt it could have been extrapolated on more was Hulk VS Broly.

Edit: I might be the worst person to ask since I'm not as married to what's a "correct" verdict as I was in like S4-S5.

I really do still wish that Goku didn't just get fed to Clark again (especially because, as mentioned earlier in the thread, this probably means Goku isn't coming back for awhile), but I'm not gonna lie, that was a very good episode. I wasn't the biggest fan of the voice acting, but everything else was handled incredibly well.

Oh god imagine Goku comes back in a few years and just loses again 💀

If he's pit against Sonic, I hope it's not Heroes vs Archie again.
