I mean, kirin being light speed makes more sense when late classic characters could dodge natural lightning.

Kirin being lightspeed will always be nonsense to me. It couldn't be a clearer natural lightning feat if it tried.

Kirin's such a weird case.
On one hand you have the very clear, narrative implication of Sasuke attaining a level of speed comparable with an actual lightning bolt with this attack. Ranging from Zetsu telling us that he "tamed" lightning, that it can't be dodged, than proceeds to heavily imply it's because it moves at speed comparable with a lightning bolt, and even how the jutsu is created in the first place. Through raising the ambient air temperature with outside means, such as Amaterasu, Sasuke can generate an ascending air current, which finally creates a cumulonimbus cloud, a thunder cloud that generates actual lightning bolts. Not lightning bolts formed through chakra. It's just that Sasuke can infuse his chakra with the lightning bolt to change its size, shape and direction.
But on another hand you have Zetsu not actually giving us a stated speed for Kirin, but rather a timeframe of how long it takes before reaching the ground, the databooks consistently telling us that Kirin moves at the speed of light rather than lightning, and an arguable level of consistency on this level of speed through other techniques of similar caliber and scaling.
It's just a recipe for disaster and inconsistencies.

The toad didn't melt Obito's TSO. The TSO's are naturally fluid, and can change shape and consistency at Obito's will, hence why it started to act more like a liquid rather than a solid, because Obito was changing its shape and consistency to get rid of the syrup (which also isn't acid, it's an adhesive. The attack is literally called "syrup gun" bruh)
