Anime fans have the media literacy of toddlers I swear to god. The biggest waste of time is reading comments under episodes hoping for interessting discussions. Only there can you read dozens of people saying that the villain didnt make sense or question why he did what he did AFTER he spends 15 minutes of the entire episode breaking down his motive, plan and goals in excrutiating details. I had a better time reading the comment section on Nhentai.

oh yeah weebs are dumbasses.
It's even funnier seeing them go full Keiaru (redo of a healer mc idk how to spell the name of this dumbass) and complain about characters not acting like classic cliche op black hair mcs especially in manhwas.
I have a verse i wanna make and i've done a lot of prep it's just that circumstances and scaling weirdness warded me away from that atm, it's called Gosu. Gosu is absolutely fantastic and does an amazing job of making an OP character only to slowly up the game to the point where the MC stops being nigh-untouchable (he gets scratched many times in like the 3rd/4th fight we see him in) and nearly dies in half the fights he is in, and all the while keeping him interesting and pleasant.
Anyways back to the point i am making, he doesn't kill people, or at least he tried to for a while since he made a promise. He keeps being merciful despite everything happening and the people in the comments HATED him for that. All they want is the rip off of the Solo Leveling protagonist, they want him to not spare people and more. Weebs deadass cannot understand that a human may think that killing humans is gasp wrong and that they gasp may feel guilt, remorse and feel terrified for killing other humans.

100% agree.
Manhwa fans in special will get pissed off at any protagonist that does not act like a sociopath who kills anyone who looks at them wrong and always takes the most optimal choice while acting as a stereotyped sigma male.
"Why is this MC such a loser! 10 chapters in and he hasn't learned anything yet!"

NGL I dropped it because it seemed like it was gonna be OPM 2.0. Was it originally like that and then gradually changed or was I just straight up wrong in my assessment?

Yeah, there are like 3 or so notably big arcs where he is only ever slightly hurt but then the rest have opponents that can harm him seriously, break his limbs and one guy almost kills him and he ends up getting help. From that point on all the fights are serious and several have Gang be on the verge of death

I might pick it back up then. IDK I just expected him to solo and it to be a STRICTLY comedic series and that wasn't what I was looking for at the time. Now I am more open to anything but I usually don't pick up anything I dropped.

let's just say that the comedy is only in minor slice of life moments. Most of it is dark and violent from a certain point. I'd say it becomes way darker around the 30% point, maybe before that
