League of Legends Speed Scaling Problem

We currently have a problem where a lot of the profiles are scaled to 2 feats which by all rights they shouldn't and vague reasoning. We need to fix this and come up with a better scaling.

The two feats are Skaarl running away and Garen using his ultimate.

It is generally copy-pasted across the profiles as Hypersonic+ with Massively Hypersonic+ reactions and combat speed (Can keep up with champions like Kled and Garen, as well as close range lightning/light-based attacks).

The problem with this kind of scaling is that in the game's lore, these champions have not encountered a lot of the other champions, making scaling awkward as it is impossible to scale without any support. Hence, it should be removed from the profiles and reworded into something more logical, that involves scaling between characters who have actually fought or kept up with each other.

We should discuss together and come up with better suggestions. Suggestions for scaling chains should indicate reasoning and (if possible) evidence and will be edited in below.

As an hypothetical example of how to suggest, Lucian would scale to Thresh as both characters have fought and kept up with each other in Shadow and Fortune (Insert link or screenshot here).

Still trying to do this eh? Even though there are multiple mhs reaction and combat speed feats and multiple Hypersonic movement feats

@Weekly

Then give us the feats and who scales to them. Not all champions are created equal and the only thing that assumes that is the game.

If a group scales to one feat, that's fine( but that's just one group.

Okay, so lets see. For movement speed we have:

For combat speed we have:

  • For the low tiers, Kenne and Olaf utilizing natural lightning, with multiple people canonically being able to keep up with them and basically everyone scaling as a result
  • For the high tiers, Volibear using natural lightning, with Ornn being able to directly keep up with him and multiple people scaling to him

There's also a really good speed feat for Master Yi in his most recent story that needs to be calced

Where is Master Yi's feat? I can look at it.

Sylas reacting to Garen's ulti isn't a good speed feat since the ulti has no know valid speed.

Galio only moves that fast with his ultimate; he is referring to his steps when calling himself slow.

Kled isn't slow on Skaarl.

What even is that "feat" for Illaoi? Inferring that she not only made that storm but made it in such a short timeframe is just baseless.

Sion doesn't catch fire because of speed, but because of his soul furnace. It's the same particle effect of his W and, when we see his Unstoppable Onslaught used in Awaken, he is not on fire and is just running very quickly. Also Irelia failed to react to it and got punted.

Yes, Kennen and Olaf do use lightning, but no one reacts to it. Sion gets insta-popped by his Ultimate in Awaken and no one is capable of dodging the electricity that arcs off of him when he is in his dash.

Volibear charges his attacks with and summons lightning, but I don't think anyone has reacted to it. Being a lightning user doesn't matter if no one can react to it.

@Assalt Read this. The feat happens near the end but you need to read the whole thing for context.

As for the other stuff:

Then Garen's feat should be recalced to find a definite speed.

Yes, and it scales to his general movement speed

Kled in lore is able to keep up with Skaarl on foot and sion canonically fought alongside kled and skaarl before

Illaoi has created storms multiple times actually, even in her splash art she makes a storm

The animation of irelia/sion/kennen/etc. is non-canon

The members of the kinkou order react to kennen regularly, and sejuani fought olaf to a dead standstill

Volibear is the creator of lightning in LoL, and ornn fought him 10 days straight and fought him multiple times after that. He should without a doubt scale.

I can look for other feats but i know for a fact Camille casually dodged lasers ar one point

Some of these are definite examples of scaling coming from nowhere though- nobody in-game keeps up with Skarl and nobody out of game has ever fought Skarl. Skarl in-game can outrun anyone and anything when Kled's knocked off it because under no circumstances can you stop Skarl from escaping.

Nobody in the cinematics has been dodging lightning and everyone appears to have quite a difficult time even dealing with bullets, typically aimdodging them or not being able to dodge at all. There's quite literally no reason to assume they can dodge lightning just because others use them.

There is consistent bullet and arrow dodging in both cimenatics and writtwn lore actually, as well as the comics

Oh that reminds me, veigar has a mhs attack and soraka does as well it just needs to be calced

@Weekly

The Yi feat seems completely unquantifiable. We have no indication of a timeframe past a "flash" and even then we have no way to track the path he took to cut those vines.

You can't calc Garen's ultimate. It's a blast of righteous energy now, not a literal sword.

If Kled is as fast as Skaarl at full run he would note her as fast not would it be an advantage to ride her in the first place.

If Skaarl's speed at max appears to Kled as a "blink of an eye" and something he can barely follow, it doesn't scale to him or his energy combat speed.

That's fine, but the speed it's claimed to move at isn't valid.

The events are non-canon, but it can give insight into how their abilities work in—universe and not just in-game.

That's fine, but unless they react to their lightning attacks it doesn't matter. Someone can fight Kennen without needing to dodge the lightning strikes of his ultimate; the same goes with Olaf from his Reckless Strike.

That's also nice, but you need to show Ornn reacting to the lightning, not just beating Voli other ways or just tanking it, which he can do.

sion kept up with Skaarl

Alkali and Shen regularly react to kennen's lightning attacks

Volibear uses lightning blasts in close combat regularly, there is no reason to assume ornn cant react to it when he fought Volibear in cqc for days on end

How do you know that Ornn didn't just tank the lightning. I mean he is a tank after all.

Also tfw if we still used the JoJ, Pantheon would have a damn good feat of jumping from Targon to the Freljord to meet ashe

Actually...

"As the enemy marauders closed in, an unnatural, keening wind descended, whipping the snow around in a growing fury. The swirling clouds parted, exposing the full majesty of Mount Targon at the epicenter of the storm. Warriors on both sides struggled to maintain their footing, shielding their eyes against the ice storm as a ghostly, glowing city appeared in the heavens at the mountain's apex.

The four stars of the Pantheon constellation pulsed brightly, then turned dark overhead. Simultaneously, the burning light of a falling star appeared within the ethereal city and streaked toward the ground.

It screamed toward the temple, moving at astonishing speed, and the barbarians prayed to their heathen gods in quivering voices. The streaming light slammed down, striking the ground between the two forces with an earth-shattering impact.

This was no star, but a warrior mantled in starlight and bearing a gleaming, golden shield and spear of legend. He had landed in a warrior's crouch, one knee lowered to the ground, and as he looked up at the enemy defiling the lands of Mount Targon, the Rakkorans saw it was Atreus... and yet not Atreus. The Aspect of the Warrior had infused him, and he was now both mortal and immortal, the incarnation of war made flesh. He was now an avatar of battle. He had become the Pantheon."

This can be calced cant it?

Targonheight
Everest is 8848 meters tall

8848 / 456 = 19.4 m/px

19.4 x 967 = 18763.19 m

18763.19 / 340.46 = Mach 55

How can you pixel scale something that doesn't come from the same video/image though? You can make either mountain larger or smaller than what you posted to fit a narrative. Its just not super reliable. If you want to say its comparable to Everest that's better I guess, but I don't support the image composite used.

@Qawsedf I can link the dev blog where they gave this image and stated that its a comparion to everest if you'd like

That's a lot better then. Just thought it was a random composite. My bad Weekly.

EDIT: Or not I guess if it doesn't officially state if the other mountain is Everest.

It's a comparison, but to what? That doesn't look like Everest.

Although my fault, I thought you just slapped Targon over a mountain.

Weekly seems to be making sense here.

The height you used for everest is the number of meters it is above sea level, IDK if the image of Everest there goes all the way down in regards to that, but the calc looks solid.

I mean, I don't think so? We haven't talked that much though considering out intrests don't overlap much. I just don't want a calc to be based on a incorrect assumption. So I was critizing you as much as the method. Also reading the linked article I don't see anything comparing to Everest, in fact it might just be magical streching powers

> Mount Targon can be broken into distinct regions, as delineated by patterns in the rock and a marked increase in hazardous weather conditions, difficulty of the climb, and increased death rate. The upper levels of the mountain expand and contract as if the land itself were alive, making it impossible to map a reliable pathway to the top. Each ascent is different, as the mountain magically stretches―some climbs can last for months while others reach the peak in just a day.

Even if it varies in height I see nothing wrong for using an official comparison image for a general feat of leaping up to it; unless the image uses its maximum height.
