Let's Talk Verse Fodder

This is a subject I've been wanting to bring up for a bit, and only now have I gotten the urge to act on it. So, you know how the Mario Bros verse has managed to get some pretty notable fodder characters as of late. Well, this got me thinking, "Hey, there are a lot more universes that have some obvious fodder floating around, such as the Unggoy from the Halo franchise, or the Egg Paw from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. So, why can't we figure out where some other types of fodder stands in their universes, such as the ones from The Legend of Zelda, or Kid Icarus, or even Castlevania.

So this is the topic I will be focusing on with this discussion thread, and I would appreciate all the help I can get on it. From observing the different fodders throughout the wiki, I've noticed that the majority of them has a separate tiering from the rest of the big players of their universe, such as how Knuckle Joe is 5-A for breaking a planet, and is mostly separate from the rest of the other characters such as Kirby at 4-A and is the source of scaling for the rest of the fodder for the verse, so this kind of scaling is what I want to try to locate for many of the other verses on the site. And as I said before, any help that can be provided for this would be highly appreciated.

Note: While I am going to mostly focusing on video game verses with this thread, any kind of fodder from any kind of media, from anime to film to literature, can be discussed and determined here.

Reported Fodder Scaling:

  • 9-C Thugs (Batman: Arkham)
  • 9-B Splicers (Bioshock)
  • Approximately 9-B to 9-A for Majority of Monsters (Dungeons & Dragons)
  • 9-A to 9-A+; Supersonic to Hypersonic Humans and Monsters (God of War)
  • High 6-A Angels & Demons (Bayonetta)
  • High 7-A Enemies (The Legend of Zelda)
  • 8-C Bottom-Tier Demons (Shin Megami Tensei)
  • 8-A Low-Tier Demons (Shin Megami Tensei)

Thugs from the arkham series can take hits from Batman. Pretty sure they would only be 9-C though.

Splicers (though the page should be changed a bit) are only 9-B for normal splicers (though imo some should be 9-C), while the main character is 8-C as well as Big Daddies, which splicers can kill.

In comics guns can kill anyone.

Tbh I have no clue how "fodder" characters are determined. I guess when weak characters harm other higher tier characters in games it is considered game mechanics..? I mean Cuphead only having a set amount of hits, Mario dying in one hit to Goomba's when he is in a small form, and sonic not being able to die as long he has rings are game mechanics, so I am assuming it is that or PIS. At least that is what most people would say it is I think. Not posative. I have been wondering this as well.

Current verses I'd like to attempt to determine the fodder's power levels include:

  • The Legend of Zelda (Moblin, Deku Scrub, Octorok)
  • Kid Icarus (Monoeye, Specknose, Eggplant Wizard)
  • Castlevania (Skeleton, Harpy, Axe Armor)
  • Dragon Quest (Slime, Crabid, Draken)
  • Final Fantasy (Flan, Bomb, Malboro)
Just to name a few for the time being.

Normal humans in the God of War universe are 9-A and Supersonic, and almost every single monster scales (some of which are 9-A+ and Hypersonic via their own feats)

The heck did normal humans get Small Building level from?

@Starter Peck

There is a cutscene where four Spartan Army soldiers pull down a giant stone statue by wrapping a rope around it, which was calc'ed at 9-A.

@Crimson

Not gonna lie, Castlevania is one of the biggest reasons why I decided to make this thread. The majority of the smaller characters, such as Zephyr, has Unknown tiering, and Persephone has 8-C. The other day I was in the mood to try to make a page for some Castlevania fodder, but after seeing what I had to work with, I quickly lost my urge. I even made a page talking about Castlevania's fodder specifically at some point previously that I might have to look for again.

For obvious reasons, we don't scale fodder enemies from the protagonists such as 4-A castlevania skeletons, but they could from their own feats if they decent but not too impressive. Goombas and koopas do have some very consistent and casual 9-B feats for sure. If via sheer size is calcable, than giant fodders could be Tier 8 and stuff like that. Though, some fodder aren't exactly "Fodder" by lore, but do have some pretty solid feats with protagonists being well above them though.

That's 9-A? Is pulling not Lifting Strength? Also, similarly, what about pushing, shoving or gripping? Is that Lifting or Striking Strength?

Speed combined with force can still be calc'd to generate kinetic energy.

Zelda's fodder is High 7-A scaling from random bombs. Not sure if guys like deku baba scale to it, though. I know that soldiers in the verse do.

Where does the scaling for the bombs come from?

Okay, needed to know that. I'm also gonna start editing the OP with the reported fodder scalings so it's all nice and organized at the top.

Aren't there other demons too? Like pixies?

Lowest levels for each:

Jack Frost: 8-C

Pixie: 8-C

Angel: 8-A

So, obviously, Angels are the mark of the next level of demons before we get to the tier 6's.

And now here I am wondering about Kingdom Hearts fodder. Where do the Heartless, Nobodies, Unversed, Bugs, & Nightmare & Spirit Dream Eaters fit in?

Do we scale them to the protagonists &/or main villains? (IMHO, even though there's a calc, I still wonder if 4-C isn't an outlier for KH, as there's tons of lower feats, & they'd be more applicable here.) Do we base the fodders on scaling or their own feats? IIRC, they have plenty through journal entries, & maybe some move animations, cutscenes & such.

Neat. Although, there's still, like, 50 other species of Dream Eater. And why can't I find that listed on the Kingdom Hearts page? Anyway, if we're talking plot relevant, where is Komory Bat, since Riku canonically has one & it & Sora's Meow Wow were involved in getting into The World That Never Was?

I've also read that... I think it was a Me Me Bunny knocked out Sora in a cutscene, so lol, feat. Or PIS.

Still, I do wonder about the many other kinds of KH enemies....

Actually, about Zelda's fodder, most real fodder enemies get oneshotted by bombs, so Octorocks, Deku Scrubs ect do not scale from the bombs. Mini bosses such as Dark Nuts can scale from bombs however.

True, but there's no smaller calculated feat that would scale to the actual fodder. BOTW probably has feats, like bokos tanking pretty big explosions that engulf a room sized skull, but outside of that...

Technically speaking regular Dodongos are fodder in the grand scheme of things as they most often appear as normal enemies (Only occasionally being mini bosses and even then they're only mini boss material in groups of 2 or 3) and they can eat and tank bombs just fine. Although if we're talking absolute bottom of the barrel like Bokoblins and Octoroks then they should be 9-A or something via the large explosions they can tank. Although iirc don't lightning bolts have 8-C+ energy or something? Because the stronger varients of Bokoblins can tank them without too much fuss.

Lightning is 8-C+, tanking lightning is not 8-C+.

No problem. But yeah, BotW Bokoblins do have the skull explosions.

Summoning lightning bolts is 8-C+, and tanking controlled lightning bolts is usually 8-C+, but tanking a naturally occuring lightning bolt is only 9-C since they body only absorbs a tiny portion of the bolt.

Also, I know regular dondogoes are regular enemies and pretty fodder, but not quite fodder to the same as octorocks or dekus. So stronger fodder of Zelda can be High 7-A just not the super fodder.

I think it was Antoniofer who did the calc, but he said Street level durability is the durability required to survive a natural lightning bolt. IRL, lightning bolts have fairly massive AoE with most of the heat/force/energy being absorbed by the ground. Scientifically though, if a normal human's body were to actually absorb the entire lightning bolt, their body would be completely atomized.
