With this post, I have officially made 3,000 edits on this wiki, which is wonderful. And to celebrate this momentous occasion, I am going back in time to one of my earliest debates to settle a matchup that was extremely heated between me and Kaltias. You see, during this battle royale from long ago, I proposed that Rukia had a pretty good chance against Mami, which came at a huge amount of backlash and debate that went on for some time until it was likely forgotten about and, before long, the thread was abandoned. But, I never forgot this, and with my 3,000th edit on VSBW, I figure it's about time to settle this thing. So, who will win this, the magical girl or the Shinigami? Let's find out now!

In the blue corner, we have Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach, and in the red corner, we have Mami Tomoe from Puella Magi Madoka Magica!

-This is a battle to the death or incapacitation. No holds barred.
-Neither character are aware of each other beforehand, and there is no prep time.

-Neither character are allowed any outside help.

-This battle takes place on Sōkyoku Hill within the Seireitei, giving Rukia the home-court advantage.

-Rukia is in her Post Royal Guard Training form here, and Mami will be in her Magical Girl form. Rukia will also start out in Shikai, but have the option to unleash her Bankai if needed.

-Speed is equalized.

With all this being said, let the debate begin!

But to put in simple, Bankai Rukia will use AoE AZ as her first move and in her Bankai form she can one shot Vollständig As Nodt who previously survive her Shikai AZ in his base form. In addition in Bankai form(Though she can do this in shikai too) she will freeze herself to AZ so Mami might not wanna to touch her when she in her bankai form.

The only weakness of her ability is she has not yet mastered her shikai and bankai ability and can only use AZ for several seconds. To avoid confusion, yes Shikai Rukia can achieve AZ after her Post-Royal Guard Training.
 
Bankai rukia will lead by shooting AoE AZ tbh, Thats the first thing she did when she was in her bankai form.
 
Maybe you should turn it into Shikai Rukia who can go Bankai. Since it's GG if she starts in Bankai and doesn't immediately kill and hers isn't like Ichigo or Renji's Bankais
 
What? they been separated by several kilometer? so what the point of using Bankai if she cant use it in time.

Except it's an immediate AP drop from 7-A to 7-C for Rukia if I switch her to Shikai, which means that Mami would one-shot.
 
Its GG either way. Too far away and she die by herself but too close and She win by default, she just AZ everything mami throw at her.

Sorry. I was under the assumption that Rukia was only 7-A in her Bankai form. So, how's this? I'll bring Rukia down to Shikai and give her the option for Bankai.

Also, for the several kilometer argument, is the Sōkyoku Hill that big? Because I don't think it is, and that's where I have the match set up.
 
I'm fairly sure both of them can fly. Plus Seireitei is several hundred of kilometers in size too unless they only allowed to fight in Sōkyoku hill.
 
Technically, I suppose they could move elsewhere. But, the fight is to start at the Sōkyoku Hill and I would assume they would generally stay in the same place to fight.
 
Because the first scan is in Japanese, which I can't read. In the second one, it seems like Rukia is standing in front of the building, which doesn't seem that high either. And I don't even know what is happening on the third one.

Also the page says her range is several hundreds of meters at best with her Kido and Zanpakuto abilities.
 
You're kind of not supposed to be reading anything but looking at the panels, as I asked you to be doing. Anyway I calced it and it seems to be 1,5km from distance.

Byakuya only gave her words of advice to let her bankai melt slowly, plus I'm fairly sure that was the first time she ever use her bankai thus she still very inexperienced on how to handle her own bankai.

In this Vs Match however it will be the second time she use her bankai thus she will have more experience on how to handle her own bankai+she will remember Byakuya words of advice as well.

It's not going to be her second time. The timeskip was 10 years which is the amount of time a person takes to train their bankai and become a captain, which is what happened with Rukia (she became a captain). So she should be able to have atleast Soi Fon level mastery of her bankai (use couple of times before she cant anymore).
 
I did.

I have pointed out Mami has pretty good AoE attack which probably will counter Rukia Shikai AZ (as she never shown to freeze such big scale attack before, in her Shikai state).

If she goes to Bankai, she most likely will die as well due her inexperience with her Bankai, no matter if she took Mami with her or not.
 
I'm fairly sure we use version after she already use her bankai, otherwise her Weaknesses section need to be revisit. According to Absolute Zero page, AZ will ignore durability so I think if she use AS she will freeze her projectile with no problem.

Out of topic but how she lost against Mitsuru Kirijo? especially when she can one shots ppl with resistance to AZ. :/
 
You don't get it, Rukia Bankai is just like one big attack that might also kills her if not because of Byakuya saved her. It isn't like Ichigo or Renji or anyone else, hers is just one timing Bankai.

Also, yes projectile fails, but Mami is smart enough to nukes her with AoE Tiro Finale when she sees her bullets are useless. Rukia AZ Shikai never shown to counter an AoE attack before.

No? She only need 1 big attack to beat As Nodt, ichigo try to do similar thing in the first time he use his bankai. Doesn't mean ichigo bankai is only one timing Bankai. Tbh Az will freeze all matter on atomic level and collapsing all matter under their own mass since the loss of energy, You can see it happen on As Nodt too.

In addition I'm fairly sure rukia shikai is AoE AZ as well and more importantly she has AP advantage, it's not like freezing weaker AP will be impossible for her when she has AP advantage and durability ignoring ability, even if she somehow cant completely freeze it, she can still minimalize the damage by freeze some of it.
