Yu-Gi-Oh! General Discussion

It might be a worthwhile addition, though if it needs a calculation, IDK how we'd calc that feat.
Piercing is a thing, though piercing metal with card is weird.

There was also a DM scene -That was cut from the dub- where, IIRC, Kaiba pierces a gun with a card. I think in DK. & then a similar one near the end of the duel against Joey mind-controlled by Marik?

I'll be driven mad if they do.

I swear, that bird's gotten way too much disrespect over the years.
If it’s just a name change to get the rumored copyright allegations off of them, then I can live with that. Anything else, though, I shudder to even guess…

I'm actually looking forward to the Sky Striker and Albaz themed anime they're airing next April.
After all, this is the first Yugioh Anime adapted from OCG/TCG Lore.
I'm not sure I'll care much for an anime based on either of those archetypes, but as you said, it's a Yugioh anime based on card lore.

I just hope they went with them because it's "safe" by already looking like typical anime, making it "accessible" for new audiences so they can use it as stepping stones to more interesting Yugioh lore stuff.

Thanks to a certain friend of mine, I got my hands on a scan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Animation Book.

Paradox's D-Wheel(Duel Runner)
Performance that transcends time and space.
It is also equipped with a transforming mechanism and can even fly!

Power to transcend time and space
Seeking the power of “Duel Monsters” from the far future.
Paradox has come to the time of Yusei, jaden, and yugi. It is thought that the power to transcend time and space is possessed by the “D-Wheel” that he controls.
It is an advanced machine that does not exist even in Yusei's time.

The Paradox D-Wheel's ability to travel through time and space is through performance. I think it might not mean speed though, it might mean it might be like a time machine? Certainly the dubiousness of its feat is worth discussing

Wait, OCG Stories is getting an anime?

How long ago did I say OCG Stories would get an anime eventually (or did I not say that at all)?

Mention a little information about Black Luster Soldier. It has been officially mentioned on several occasions that his ability is comparable to that of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
The Japanese text for this card in Normal/DM7/DM8 is as follows:
B・W・D(ブルーアイズ・ホワイトドラゴン)と同等の能力を持つ最強の戦士。
Translation:
The mightiest warrior, whose abilities equal the Blue-Eyes White Dragon.

In the video game Cross Duel, the Japanese text of this card is as follows:
光を誘い、闇を導く魂は混沌の場を創り出す。
疾走れ!―――そして超戦士の力を得よ!
Translation:
The souls that invite the light and lead the darkness create a Chaos Field.
Ride fast! --- and gain the power of the Super Soldier!

It could be chaos manipulation. But the profile description is too vague and doesn't really know what that Chaos Field is all about

Chilling out with the crew in the graveyard....
Back in class they never taught us this!
We'll make the grade somehow....
Come on & get your game on!

Nice, but how does “monsters that can Overwrite unaffected by other effects” translate?
Is it hax? Or is it Invulnerability/Durability Negation?
It's a specific interaction covered under the power modification. The base monster simply doesn't resist having their effects changed. It doesn't gain anything beyond that.

Honestly, as someone familiar with Yu-Gi-Oh!, it surprises me that there is an interaction where something can change the effect of a monster that is unaffected by other effects.
Why, in the games' rules, does it work? Is it because Konami said it's acting on the effect rather than the card the effect belongs to?

Looking up the rulings for Phantom of Yubel, this seems to be the case.

Are there ways to make ZeXal and Arc-V monsters on par with the og ones?
Quoting the Yugioh Wiki:

According to Leo Akaba, Real Solid Vision was discovered in the Original Dimension and it lead that Dimension's ruin. Monsters produced with Real Solid Vision become self-aware, as Monsters have souls. This caused a duelist and his four dragons to go on a rampage and merge into a single celestial dragon.

You could also look into the original Japanese for what's said on that matter, as well as inspect the Original Dimension to see if there's any way it could be connected to previous series. The most obvious connection it features is having all 4 summoning methods, though I ain't sure if anyone is using "scouters", nor Alternate/Augmented Reality like in Zexal.

Many parts of the Synchro Dimension seem inspired by 5D's, but we'd need to look into if it's just similar, or if it's a future, & if it's the same one.

Wiki says about the Synchro Dimension:
  • In this dimension, the Zero Reverse event never occurred and thus the creation of the Satellite was never formed, however there was still a huge segregation between the upper and lower classes.
There's also stuff like the Synchro Dimension having its own Jack who seems different, & yet may lack a Yusei.

Perhaps the trickiest point is that a big part of Arc-V is that its Solid Vision is supposed to be notable for having mass; If other Solid Vision ended up having it, then that'd be notable. But presumably, it's not. (Plus, it could have been only new in the Pendulum Dimension. I forget if it was real in the Original Dimension or not.)

I think it's just similar, after all some Plot and 5ds create conflicts, as does Fusion Dimension/XYZ Dimension.(can't scale to GX/ZEXAL characters)

Found an interesting feat.
In GX EP136, Axel Brodiec created a replica of Syrus Truesdale through the Spell Card "Copy Doll" effect to attract enemies.

Also in DM EP037, Yami Bakura has a similar feat. He can summon “Man-Eater Bug” and “Morphing Jar” without relying on Duel Disk. Killed Pegasus's guards.
Incidentally, the Man-Eater Bug summoned by bakura absorbs/ignores enemy bullets. morphing Jar, on the other hand, devours guards, sending them to the graveyard. (It's not clear if it's through a card effect or a normal physical attack)

In Pyramid of Light, Pegasus summons toon monsters. to catch falling rocks without relying on Duel Disk. Note that at that point Pegasus had lost the Millennium Eye. and did not rely on the power of Millennium Items to summon monsters.
