Australopithecus has higher intelligence, but chimp is likely better in a straight-up physical brawl, so I'll vote Chimp.

Granted stone tools were found wih Australopithecus, but I dunno if we know anything about said tools beyond the possibility that they were carving implements like the tools of Homo Habilis. I would assume that chimpanzee tools, like Australopithecus tools, were basically a "whatever works" deal unlike with Homo Erectus when humans started caring about symmetry.
From what I can tell, twigs stripped of their leaves were used to reach into termite nests, stones were used as "hammers" to break open fruits, leaves were used as "cups" for drinking water, and they even either sharpened or thrown rocks as weapons.
I'm gonna go with the Chimpanzee here.

it seems like Australopithecus had the exact same behaviour and fast twitch muscles like chimps except they were a bit bigger. High diff for the walking ape imo.
