I've looked all over Mega Man Knowlage Base, but I can't find anything that says the Maverick/Sigma virus can effect humans.

Where is it stated that the Maverick Virus can effect humans?

Because it cant, it is a computer virus. When omega fuses with Dark Elf and begins mindrape the entire population of reploid, Ciel (which is a human) is not affected at all. So the virus cant affect biological beings. Aldo during mmx5 events when the entire earth is being affected we dont see any statement about humans infection.

The Dark Elf and Maverick Virus are different things entirely.
