Basking Shark at its max is 3 times bigger than Sharkjira. That could be a problem for the latter. I guess Sharkjira can win this is if he (she?) quickly consumes enough prey with Vortex to gain energy for the laser. Can Basking Shark absorb energy/radiation?

Thankfully, no. Even if they could, Tasty Planet characters can't absorb ranged attacks, including energy or projectiles.

I suppose then, as long as Sharkjira has the Vortex, it could keep charging Atomic Breath to keep Basking Shark at bay and damage it until victory, if one shot is not enough.

Also shouldn't Gold Rush be considered hax/minor Reality Warping?

It should be. Even the weakest sharks can destroy submarines under Gold Rush.
