Guts has endured through a lot of pain and trauma throughout his life. He is one of the most scarred people, literally and metaphorically, to ever walk the path. He is constantly haunted by his inner demons, thoughts he cannot erase, which brings him pain and regrets. In one unfortunate night, he is possessed by a force unbeknownst to him. Can he survive this new intruder?

Btw Hym doesn't necessarily need to possess the victim's body, they simply need to be near the victim and be influenced by its powers.

And the Hym also isn't capable of being attacked nor seen as it is non-corporeal and without a real form. It can't be ward off like a normal spirit either, it needs very specific conditions for the hym to be properly banished.

Dragon Slayer can attack ghosts and astral beings though. He isn't just warding them off but actually harming and killing them by damaging their souls. What stops him from doing that to the Hym?

The Hym is totally invisible and only manifests as a shadow. Or it can appear as something else entirely as to fool the victim. It also doesn’t need to be close to the host at all. It could influence a clans yarl from the top of the mountain and it is capable of teleportation.

The Hym was undetectable to even Geralt who is capable of sensing supernatural beings invisible to the naked eye and possesses Yrden which negates intangibility and non-corporeality. Even then he wasn’t aware until he found evidence leading to a hym and he couldn’t drive it out without a very specific circumstance to make it appear.

The Hym is very akin to the Beast of Darkness, only that it is more sadistic and tries to give the host more self-harm and trauma. The more traumatic events the host has went through, the stronger its grip is on the host.

The Brand of Sacrifice alerts Guts to the presence of supernatural beings including the God Hand who are abstract beings that exist anywhere with massive amounts of negative emotions and are a massive body of thoughts unbound by the flow of causality. The Dragon Slayer can also interact with them despite this so if Yrden is able to negate the intangibility of the Hym (as showcased above) than Dragon Slayer can as well. He also has Supernatural Willpower and Resistance to Fear and Empathic Manipulation from the likes of Femto. The Hym's shenanigans are basically what he had to go through every single day after the Eclipse.
Random Souls in Berserk have tried this and failed. I don't see the Hym succeeding.
Plus, the hym can be harmed by Geralt:

He needed to use Yrden to force the Gym into its corporeal form and it does have a MASSIVE AP advantage in this form specifically but Guts can probably deal with it through his skill, Dragon Slayer's 8-A durability and much higher melee reach, and the fact that he doesn't even need to fight it in its corporeal form as Dragon Slayer can target its soul while it's incorporeal.

Plus, the hym can be harmed by Geralt:

There are different types of possessions, the souls in berserk tried to physically possess Guts and take control of his body which didn't work. The Hym meanwhile only takes possession of a hosts mind, it doesn't make itself instantly known for the user. It can manifest as a self-consciences talking to itself or a person who he thinks he's talking on the road.

And the fight with the Hym in the Witcher 3 is taken out of context.

There's two methods towards defeating a Hym and both require outside help. The Witchers method, They need to find the place of where the Hym usually resides and light the place to make the Hym appear. For the Hym to appear although, the afflicted needs to be in a medium state as the Hym manifesting into corporeality makes the individual experience even more intense emotions and PTSD to grow stronger and regenerate in the fight. That's why it is usually accompanied by a witcher who can also use the Igni sign to quickly light the Hyms layer as it can also just vanish and return to its previous state.
