Introduction

As many of you may know by now, the Kav-Bot is a bot framework designed to perform mass edits. It has been activated on VS Battles wiki, and for the purpose of easy editing, has administrator rights as well.

Purpose of this page
Members are free to place requests below for any mass changes which they feel are necessary. However, the main focus lies in removing, renaming, or merging inappropriate categories. The primary purpose of the bot, as noted, is to help with site maintenance, so requests involving maintenance will be given higher priority.

Instructions
Keep in mind that only requests requiring monotonous, rule-based edits are feasible for the bot-software, and members making requests are asked to kindly evaluate whether their request is of such a nature before posting any requests.

Also note that:

  • Response to requests might be delayed by a day or two.
  • Bothering the users maintaining the bot with bot requests on their message walls is prohibited.
Standard Format
Kindly place any requests below, in the following format:

Subject: (Explain the main purpose of the request)

Request: (Explain the request in detail)

Dead-line: (If any, otherwise fill as NA)

Help
For any questions regarding the bot request system (questions, not requests themselves), kindly contact the VS Battles Staff.

Man, this is an old thread nobody made use of. But I actually need it for once so let's revive it. I hope the current bot users actually follow this. If not I guess I will need to tag them.

Subject: It's about To Aru. We have historically always spelled the franchise as "To Aru..." Either To Aru Majutsu no Index or To Aru Kagaku no Railgun or various other titles following that same pattern. However, the common, and likely correct, spelling is actually "Toaru" like on the main wiki. So "Toaru Majutsu no Index" or "Toaru Kagaku no Railgun".
Therefore all mentions "To Aru" should be replaced with "Toaru". As there are several hundred pages affected I would like to request this being done by a bot.

Request: In detail, three things need to be done.
  1. Rename the category from "To Aru Majutsu No Index" to "Toaru Majutsu No Index".
  2. Go through all pages in the category and rename all pages that have "To Aru" in the name so that they instead have "Toaru". E.g. "Aleister Crowley (To Aru Majutsu No Index)" should become "Aleister Crowley (Toaru Majutsu No Index)" or "Aradia (To Aru)" should become "Aradia (Toaru)".
  3. Change all mentions of "To Aru" on pages in the category into "Toaru". Of course that will be primarily in the Origin-section, but there are other parts of the pages where the title may be mentioned as well.
Dead-line: N/A

Not possible to rename a category. We needa create another one, and edit the category section on each page. Here. I deleted the old category you linked.

It’s like 15 pages including the verse page and blogs. No bot needed, it’s done.

The last one is gonna take a bit longer to work out, and I’m preoccupied with the SCP Image stuff — if nobody handles it by then, I’ll do it.

Well, there is a "Replace" option available in the MassCategorization script, that is very handy to use in these types of situations, in order to make sure that no pages with a specific category are overlooked. 🙏

Thank you for helping out in any case. 🙏❤️

Hi! I greatly appreciate your help and thanks to DT for putting in the request.
Sorry to run this by you again but if possible, could you run the bot program again to lowercase the letter n in the name "Toaru Majutsu No Index" so it looks like: "Toaru Majutsu no Index"? Like DT said in the subject, it's how the Toaru wiki formats it and though I have a practically nonexistent knowledge of Japanese myself, from what I've seen/read the word "no" usually indicates a possessive particle which modifies nouns. For example, you wouldn't capitalize "no" in the series Ao no Exorcist (Blue Exorcist).

On-site, that's currently how Owari no Seraph, Owari no Chronicle, Kara no Kyoukai, etc is spelled.

I don't mind changing the origins and whatever other mentions are in the pages one-by-one on my own.

I’m aware, and yea that’s part of the process I use for these sorts things as an initial run-through. It’s still not functionally renaming though —what this script does requires a new category page to be made, instead of the old one being renamed (kinda like with regular page renaming) the only reason I brought it up was so that the supporters know that any links to the initial category will appear to be dead/empty and that this was intended.

Okay. No problem, and thank you very much for helping out. 🙏❤️

The old category page needs to be deleted afterwards, after first moving the information there to the new category page, yes. 🙏
