Terraria Discussion thread #2: Journey's end

(Did people stopped caring about this thread because I sperged out on the summoner class?)
They will add more slimes and a boomerang that cuts trees. I am excited, I want 1.4.5 to release already

I plan to make a Terraria CRT in the future

I will try to argue once again that The Terrarian doesn't need to eat to live

I will also argue that he's immortal and can respawn as many times as he wants. This is proven by the Nurse talking about how many times he has died.

I will also try to give him infinite stamina due to the soaring insignia giving him infinite flight

How do these look?
 
I have been told infinite flight time might not mean infinite stamina. Is that true?
 
So what is up with the pre wall of flesh ratings.

First the calc isn't even on the verse page it is only linked on two pages King Slime's and Eater of Worlds's with the on page justification's being "Can easily survive an explosion from dynamite" and "Can easily dig through Ebonstone, which takes no damage from explosives such as dynamite" respectively with both linking the the calc the thing is the both refer to the wrong explosive device, dynamite only blows up a 7 block radius. The item the calc uses is the explosives which are an item that prior to defeating Skeletron and meeting the mechanic can only be found and activated by preexisting traps that can easily one shot a late pre-hardcore player, without damage reduction, doing 500 damage. The Terrarian can hardly even use them at this point in the game since they don't have the ability to interact with wires. Saying that the Terrarian should back scale since they can harm bosses that survive those explosions seems rather disingenuous given those bosses aren't one shot with hardcore weapons, I mean king slime can reappear with slime rain post moon lord and still not be one shot by most weapons.

The calc probably shouldn't use tungsten for the material destroyed either since it was in the form of ore. Ore is usually not pure this is supported in terraria by the fact that they have to be smelted in the furnace. In fact, it takes 4 pieces of tungsten ore to create 1 tungsten bar which can be placed as blocks consisting of four bars . This implies tungsten ore blocks consist of significantly less than 100% tungsten.

The justification for 8-A is flat out wrong Ebonstone has been breakable by explosives since version 1.1 about 5 and a half years before the profile eater of worlds profile was originally made and long before it received it's current tier and the other 8-A characters got to scale to it.
 
Amazing analysis. I didn't check them that much when I saw the pages and just went through it. I didn't realize it would be this wrong.


Especially the tungsten ore one. This was would significantly downgrade Terrarian. I'd assume each ore has 25% of the tungsten strength, but I'm not sure that's how it works.

Regardless, very good analysis.
 
I was just wanting to do an ability crt for pre hardmode, but once I saw eater of worlds ap justification I realized the verse had bigger problems than I thought. There's also the fact solar eclipses are caused by defeating a mechanical boss rather than just freeing the spirits.

Oh, yeah, you're right, Ebonstone can't, no sell dynamite. Only hellstone, meteorite and dynamite can no sell dynamite. Though, hellstone can be destroyed with dynamite if you beat WOF.
 
 
turning energy into mass is a thing, so id say its possible it qualifies
but you wouldn't do that unless you were explicitly told "yes, the energy contained within this thing is being converted directly into mass" or an explicit mention of E=MC^2
 
blocks made out of Nebula fragments can be mined with copper pickaxes. I don't think it changes the durability, mass or whatever.

Funny how the objectively worst class in the game that should be buffed more buffs the verse so much.
 
I thought pure summonor was the worse.
Summoner now has a better early game than Mage.

You can get summoner weapons from graves, the jungle, chests or from the zoologist.

With mage?

You have to get lucky to get the wand of sparking because the gem staves are expensive and you start with crappy mana, a limitation that only that class has.

They don't get good weapons until they beat Skeletron yet their damage is crappy compared to the other classes.

They only get the demon scythe which is a 1% drop from one of the hardest part of the game. Every other weapon is subpar.

They have a ton of weapons with weird projectiles and weird velocity which makes it hard to aim.

Their DPS is mediocre compared to other classes unless you know how to deal with the drawbacks of mana sickness and how to manage it.


If you manually drink maná potions and time it correctly, you will get better DPS.

But we all know yall just use the Mana flower to auto drink potions lol even though it reduces your DPS.

Summoner can get really broken with whip stacking and even without it, they now have reliable ways to obtain good whips and summons.

Mage falls off in all of pre Skeletron but all the other classes don't. I think mage needs more weapons and more mechanics because weirdly enough, summoner is the most complex Terraria class.
 
I guess I just got lucky with gray zapinator and had a habit of not committing to classes that early.
You need to beat a boss to get that weapon btw

SorbetCafe the femboy was right. The nerf they gave to the magic space gun was abysmal. Now it isnt even Undertaker level.

I decided to try a master mode mage run. I so far created a graveyard, went afk, learned sometimes graveyard zombies can open doors and ghost show up sometimes, make bigger graveyard, return to playing ans die a bunch trying to destroy it, experiment with the idea of using fences to block ground spawns, make barriers around the fenced off area remake graveyard since I want abigail for support plus maggot spawns seem more common then worm spawns outside of rain and fishing provides food buffs, potions, metals and even a potential thunder zapper the best single target magic dps outside of the evil biomes, dungeon, hell, or locked behind a boss kill. Zombies keep showing up when I make a graveyard despite the defenses, go from using one layer of fences to three layers, but still zombies.

Zombies are really dumb so consider using hoiks to make traps they can't enter in your base. Like holes or walls they can't jump over.

Try to make a money farm and get the merchant to move in, he sells the mana potion. Money will be the main way you will get mana potions, think of it like ammo.

You should also try to make the tier 2 mana potions with blue mushrooms up until you go to hardmode.

Try to get the space gun as fast as possible, it at least has good piercing damage to deal with mobs. Then I would suggest rushing to Skeletron, he is the only one who has OP mage weapons imo, the bee gun is mediocre.

only controversial one here is the Type 4 Acausality in the Post-Plantera section (for some reason there isnt a post-golem or post-cultist key even though they're important for progression)
