The Switch 2 in general, plus $80-$90 games they clearly weren't confident in.
I legit don't follow your logic here.

Like, what does any of this have to do with Mario now apparently no longer having quality games? This isn't Sonic the Hedgehog we're talking about here, Mario doesn't have a near 3 decade long track record of subpar at best titles to make it a toss up if his next major game is good or not, and the prices are just... y'know, prices. Absurd prices but they don't mean anything in regards to quality.

Hardware upgrades? Inflation? Greed?

Oh & apparently DK does get one companion. From the site:

"DK MAKES A NEW FRIEND!

Together, they chase down the mysterious VoidCo."

Apparently, it's the sparkly purple blob on his shoulder? ....Yay?
I think the price is also a product of increasing costs in game development, the increasing development time and the fierce competition of free-to-play games.

I remember reading something around of the sort. Essentially, your game can sell like 3.000.000 copies but game budgets are so big nowadays (not only on those massive, hyperrealistic open world games, all big company games suffer from this) that you still don't break even. Larger development times due to the amount of stuff, detail, talent and technology put into projects also mean you can't just make games quick enough anyomore (think how in the PS2 era we could have a game triology in like 3 years, nowadays we'd be lucky to have the triology in the same console gen).

There's also the issue of catching the interest of people. It may not sound that big at first, but a lot of the potential audience either sticks to whatever free-to-play constantly updating game they are happy with and if they are looking for something, they are more likely to try free to play alternatives over forking over 70+ USD a new game, unlike before when if you wanted to play a new game you had to pay in advance or luck out with a demo.

Other than Wonder, Mario Switch games have kinda had a bad track record. Aces, Showtime, most Mario Parties, the RPG remake, all the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLCs. The Donkey Kong game looks good, but other than that all they're really showing is more Kart slop.

...Odyssey
Aces was probably the best of the Mario sports games on switch, Mario parties I am pretty sure only the first one was particularly disliked, I liked the RPG remake, I don't know what is wrong with the Deluxe dlc. The warioware games I thought were well received, so was the thousand year door remake, and Bowser's fury

Ok so the other Kongs will be in the game, Nintendo Today (The app not like today, I mean it was also shown today but yknow) showed off that Cranky will be there

Bro, I'm genuinely excited for this game. Like the new Mario Kart looks like straight up gas (pun totally intended there, BTW), but a brand new Donkey Kong game that looks like Super Mario Odyssey and involves destroying everything in your environment? Hook that shit to my veins like a drug.

I guess I have another profile to rework.

Gonna be straight up here: Can I just remove Cranky's first key from his profile? I don't feel like getting calcs together for it lol Also if Cranky Kong gets a key for his first appearance Mario should too

Yeah that sure is a profile that was last updated in 2017!

That's honestly a huge relief, I don't like the new DK design but I was afraid it meant they'd just try to change his cast and I'm glad they aren't.

Say, that statue he was fighting... sure did look like it had crocodile mouths on it...
