- person distance covered = started 4.35 from the explosion but ran towards and then away from epicenter = 24.35 meters
- Grenade distance in radius = 20 meters*
- Grenade velocity = 8050 m/s*
- person velocity = 20 /8050 = 0.00248447204 second / 24.35 = 9800.87 m/s
How fast is a (single) hand grenade shrapnel traveling within its first three metres of explosion?
Answer (1 of 5): In a M67 Grenade the Comp B loading detonates at 8,050 m/s the maximum speed a fragment can achieve is 2/3 of that velocity. so 8,050 x .6666666 = 5,366 m/s maximum projectile initial velocity this depends on angle of the shockwave striking the inner mesh liner plus the pressure ...
