Sora and his companions traveled to Teyvat, and The Traveler just happen to run into them.
Both him and Sora meet and they agree to have a friendly spar, but Aether would be surprised and curious that his opponent is using a giant key as his weapon.

You can't have a friendly spar without an audience.
On Sora's side: Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Riku, Kairi, Namine, Roxas, Xion, Axel, Ventus, Aqua and Terra.
On Aeither's side: Paimon, Lumine(the other Traveler), and all of the people he meet from Mondstradt to Inazuma

Both are not at their strongest, but they are not at their weakest also.

“Not at their strongest but not at their weakest” is rather vague but I’ll assume Liyue Traveller and Up to Dream Drop Distance Sora as keys here.

In that case Sora stomps Traveler, High 6-A with Type 8 immortality (Kairi is present) vs 7-B with no notable hax to make up for the lower tiering (in this specific matchup) and no counters for immortality.

Could you be more specific with what keys these characters are in?

I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason it’s here and not there is the same reason that it’s a stomp, if not just because of it.

Yeah. I made this post for fun. If it was actually a vs battle, Sora would no doubt stomp.

He can teleport behind and punish if his guard is broken, or otherwise make an opening with either Counter Slash (a quick upwards slash from the floor), Counter Impact (a spinning slash around him that also features four upwards beams of light) or Counter Kick (an aerial kick with a drilling Keyblade while surrounded of light).

I think that Sora would take the match. Sora has a lot more mobility especially with Flowmotion and has a far larger arsenal of abilities at his disposal as well. It also seems like as if Sora has the Stamina advantage here which is exacerbated by Sora's ability to heal himself with the cure spells being shown to restore stamina. Second Chance and Once More will also make things difficult for Aether in an extended battle.

Most of Aether's abilities aren't something that Sora isn't familiar with in some capacity with his experience, so there is little that Aether can do to surprise Sora. Empathic Manipulation and Disease Manipulation are things that Sora will probably not expect but probably won't be taken advantage of in a friendly spar and Sora has Resistance against Empathic Manipulation anyways. There is also the Resistance against the Sneeze status effect via the Mask Rosette but I'm not sure how applicable that would be against the effects of elemental energy. Elemental Intangibility might be a bit iffy for Sora but he can keep up with the Speed Amplification and Flight via Flowmotion and his own Flight.
