I feel there’s no frame of reference between Sonic/Knuckles and whatever level of power Shadow is using at that moment. Maybe I’m missing something crucial here but I just don’t see the reasoning.

I have a feeling that they're going to get weird with it and incorporate elements from lesser know media. As to what that media is I have no idea but I am expecting Metal Sonic in his neo form to be the villain. Those are my guesses.

Base shadow should at least be 5-C with chaos energy and super shadow is low 5-B just being conservative.Here's what I've got for Shadow so far

He powers the Eclipse Cannon but him scaling to it seems dubious to me, since its possible that it amplifies his power in some way. I don't have a huge problem with it though

That'd just be headcanon they never say it amplifies it, it specifically just requires him to give it his chaos energy, they all note its shadows power that powers it so saying anything else kinda just like means you'd have to prove otherwise.

Not sure how you got that, its radius alone is larger than the entire circumference alone and outside of that the specific statement we get is at worst baseline 5-B but really should be higher than even that

Yeah but its gotta need more than 1 requirement usually like 3 or 4 reqs need to be met, its gotta spaghettify, should have a discernable accretion disk and event horizon, the lightning coming out of it does kinda not bode well for that

Unless Shadow's Chaos Energy is stated to be superior to Sonic's by a huge margin both he and Knuckles should scale to Eclipse Cannon charge up.

Also, as a british citizen (unfortunately) who grew up with Sonic the Comic, that post credits scene with all those Metal Sonics made me very happy. Brotherhood of Metallix >>> all other versions of Metal Sonic in the franchise.

Metal Sonic as a whole is one of the most intriguing parts of Sonic 4, considering Robotnik is most likely not coming back unless they want to pull a “Shadow teleported him out” (Jim Carrey’s been planning to retire for a while now, so it seems to be a proper death for Robotnik and a final send-off for Jim Carrey). Obviously the movies are more than OK with changing backstories, but that just begs the question on who made the Metals in this universe and why.

Honestly I can see them having Agent Stone take the role as new main villain, maybe the Metal Sonics were in development but never finished so he picks up where the doctor left off. There's a lot of directions the fourth film can take.

Honestly how Agent Stone continues on without Robotnik is the other most exciting part of Sonic 4 for me, more exciting than even Amy being in the movie. He’s by far the most popular original character in the movies, so he’s probably gonna have a bigger role now that Robotnik is seemingly out of the picture.
I don’t really see Stone as being someone that great with robotics, but if we go the time travel route then a future Stone creating the Metal Sonics would work.
