I have 0 care at all for Solrock, so I don't care if it loses, but Solrock naturally learns at lvl 1 one of the few moves in Pokemon that a frozen Pokémon can use to thaw it out. In this case, it's Flare Blitz.

I think it comes from Tartaros demons being able to be regenerated in the lab.

You know, it's a shame Solrock is such a garbage pokemon, cause it has a pretty good moveset. Flareblitz, Rock Polish, Cosmic Power, Embargo, Heal Block (not really useful here) and Stone Miss Edge. I don't know who would win, I just felt like commenting on Solrock's garbageness.

I'm actually not sure if Silver should have type 8 based on Keyes

It is shitty type 8, but still type 8 nonetheless.

Unless Solrock starts with Flare Blitz off the bat, I don't see what's stopping Silver from flash-freezing it like he did Natsu when they first met.

Would it start a battle with no knowledge of its opponent's abilities, especially with a move that also hurts itself?

Well, unless the flash-freezing oneshots it, Solrock can always just use Flareblitz after.

Also, even Natsu cannot break his ice and he is like comparable at the very least to Silver.
